Job Duties

About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Executive Secretary at the Division 1 Headquarters in Colonial Heights, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

Serving as the Office Manager.
Monitoring daily administrative activities originating and incoming to Division Headquarters staff as needed to ensure efficiency and continuity of operations.
Providing administrative assistance and support to the division and area staff by answering inquiries based upon knowledge and experience.
Composing routine and confidential correspondence and reports.
Managing files.
Notarizing documents.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:

Administrative and general office policies and procedures.
Standard office filing systems.

Skill in:

Typing.
Data entry.
Operating a computer.
Using Microsoft Office Applications.
Using automated office equipment.

Ability to:

Communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
Draft correspondence and reports.
Work independently.
Lead and train subordinate staff.
Interpret and follow written and oral guidelines.
Interact professionally with staff, Department executives, and the public.
Secretarial and administrative experience required.
Must be qualified to serve as a Notary Public.
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
