Pediatric Clinical Nurse Leader (RN)

Pediatric Home Health | Medically Fragile Children | Clinical Leadership

Experienced PICU, NICU, Pediatric Acute Care, Pediatric Home Health, and Pediatric Case Management RNs are encouraged to apply.

At BrightStar Care, we're not simply looking for someone to complete supervisory visits or check regulatory boxes.

We're looking for an experienced pediatric RN who believes medically fragile children deserve exceptional care at home—and wants to help build one of Northern California's premier pediatric home nursing programs.

Over the past few years, we've grown from caring for a single pediatric patient to supporting a rapidly expanding program serving medically complex children throughout the greater Sacramento region. As our program continues to grow, we're looking for a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Leader who wants to grow with it.

About Our Pediatric Program

We partner closely with leading children's hospitals and pediatric specialists, including:

UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital
UC Davis Children's Hospital
Sutter Children's Center
Regional pediatric specialists throughout Northern California

Our mission is simple:

Help medically fragile children safely thrive at home while supporting the nurses and families who care for them.

We believe the best pediatric home care comes from building strong relationships—not only with our patients and families, but with the nurses who care for them every day.

This Isn't a Typical Supervisor Position

Yes, you'll complete supervisory visits, clinical documentation, and required recertifications.

But far more importantly...

You'll become the clinical resource our nurses call when they need guidance.

You'll mentor pediatric nurses entering home care.

You'll collaborate with physicians, hospital case managers, discharge planners, and specialists.

You'll help families navigate complex medical situations with confidence and compassion.

You'll help improve systems, strengthen clinical quality, and shape the future of our pediatric program.

We're looking for someone who wants to make a genuine clinical impact—not simply complete paperwork.

Responsibilities

Conduct supervisory visits and required recertifications
Mentor and support LVNs and RNs providing pediatric private duty nursing
Participate in pediatric admissions and care planning
Collaborate with physicians, hospital case managers, discharge planners, and interdisciplinary teams
Support families navigating complex home care needs
Assist with nurse education, competency development, and clinical mentoring
Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Help develop pediatric clinical resources and best practices
Provide direct patient care when appropriate (optional based on interest)

The Patients We Serve

Our pediatric patients may include children with:

Tracheostomies
Mechanical ventilation
G-tube dependence
Oxygen therapy
Seizure disorders
Cerebral palsy
Genetic conditions
Neuromuscular disorders
Complex medication regimens
Developmental disabilities

Position Structure

We're intentionally flexible because we're focused on finding the right person.

This position may begin as:

PRN
Part-Time
Full-Time (for the right candidate)

Initially, responsibilities may include a combination of clinical leadership, nurse mentoring, supervisory visits, case management, and direct patient care based on your interests and availability.

As our pediatric program continues to grow, we anticipate this role expanding alongside it.
