Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Kansas Soldiers’ Home at Fort Dodge is looking for a dependable individual to work in our Dietary department on our 10:30a – 7:00p shift. Our residents are looking for someone, who is friendly, attends work on time as scheduled and who wants to be team members of our deficiency free kitchen staff.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare and cook a variety of foods in large volume from provided menus
- Overall cleaning of the kitchen area and equipment
- Operates cooking equipment
- Arrange foods for serving
- Clean tables, chairs, floors and other equipment.
- Wash walls and spot clean as needed.
- Follow all standard safety precautions.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and ability to use and care for equipment, materials, utensils.
- Sufficient physical strength to stand the strain of working long hours and lift and carry heavy objects.
- General education with ability to read and understand and follow written and oral directions.

As authorized by the 2018 Kansas Legislature, effective July 1, 2018, K.S.A. 75-4362 is amended to designate all positions with the Kansas Commission on Veterans’ Affairs office, to include both the Kansas Soldiers’ Home and Kansas Veterans’ Home as Safety Sensitive positions and subject to the drug testing program. All applicants with a conditional offer of employment on or after July 1, 2018, shall be required to submit to a drug screening test.
