Tax Associate

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Associate to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the delivery of tax compliance and advisory services, assist with the preparation of Puerto Rico tax filings, and contribute to the evaluation of tax matters affecting our clients. You will work closely with senior team members to ensure accurate and timely deliverables while developing strong technical knowledge and maintaining high standards of client service.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and execution of tax projects from initial planning through final client delivery.
Prepare Puerto Rico tax filings for corporations, partnerships, and individuals under the supervision of senior team members.
Support the analysis and implementation of tax-saving strategies available under Act 60, with a particular focus on Export Services and Individual Investors incentive programs.
Assist in the preparation and review of ASC 740 tax provisions to support client financial statements and corporate reporting requirements.
Prepare and coordinate the timely submission of key regulatory filings, including:
Informational Returns (Form 480.x series).
Municipal license taxes (Patentes), personal property tax filings, and volume of business declarations.
Annual filings and specialized income tax returns for Act 60 exempt entities and individual investors.
Collaborate with internal Legal, Finance, and Compliance teams to support decree maintenance, permits, and annual reporting requirements.
Conduct tax and regulatory research to support tax planning, compliance, and advisory engagements.
Assist in monitoring compliance with Puerto Rico and federal tax laws and regulations.
Research legislative and regulatory tax changes and communicate relevant findings to senior team members.
Support the development and maintenance of strong client relationships through responsive, professional, and solution-oriented service.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of high-quality tax services and client solutions.
Maintain organized and complete documentation and workpapers supporting tax filings, calculations, and client deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, compliance, or a related field.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Puerto Rico tax laws and regulations.
Demonstrated critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with effective interpersonal abilities.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines.
Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or coursework in Taxation, Accounting, or Finance.
CPA candidate or active CPA license.
Previous experience with Puerto Rico tax compliance, Act 60, or related regulatory filings.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
