Full Job Description

Job Title: Laboratory Supervisor

BACKGROUND:

We are an independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization with an established world-wide network of qualified affiliates.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in conformity assessment, testing, inspection, certification, or a related technical field. This role is ideal for an individual who is proactive, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting operational excellence, client satisfaction, quality compliance, and project execution.

DUTIES: The successful candidate will perform, but not be limited to, the following duties:

Coordinate and oversee daily departmental operations, including scheduling, documentation management, record maintenance, and reporting activities.
Ensure efficient departmental performance while consistently meeting customer expectations and service commitments.
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing professional support and addressing inquiries in a timely manner.
Maintain a strong level of technical expertise within the assigned area of responsibility.
Identify and support opportunities for business development and client growth initiatives.
Stay current with applicable testing, inspection, and certification requirements within the organization's scope of accreditation.
Promote and support team compliance with the Quality Management System and associated procedures.
Apply sound knowledge of testing and laboratory operations to optimize efficiency, control costs, and deliver high-quality service to clients.
Provide training and guidance to technical staff, under the direction of the Technical Manager, on Quality Management System (QMS) and Quality System Procedure (QSP) requirements relevant to assigned work.
Offer technical expertise and support to the sales team during client engagements and project development activities.
Monitor and coordinate assigned projects to ensure completion within established timelines and budget expectations.
Exercise technical decision-making authority in accordance with the authorization levels defined in the Authorization Matrix.
Other duties as may be assigned by their manager occasion to occasion.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will, as minimum, have:

Minimum

Technical Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Technology, or a related discipline.
Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience in conformity assessment, testing, inspection, certification, laboratory operations, or a comparable technical environment.
Minimum four (4) years of project management, technical coordination, or operational leadership experience.
Strong technical background within a relevant field of expertise.
Working knowledge of quality management systems and standards such as ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17020, ISO 9001, or equivalent.
Ability to interpret, understand, and apply technical standards and requirements.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred:

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Strong sense of accountability and ownership of assigned projects.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
Positive attitude, professionalism, and willingness to learn new testing disciplines.

Ability to provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.
Strong project planning and prioritization skills.
Ability to evaluate technical requirements and develop effective project timelines.
Understanding of operational costs and resource management.
Ability to coordinate activities across multiple departments, teams, and locations.
Strong technical communication skills when interacting with clients and internal stakeholders.
Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and business development.
Working knowledge of accreditation and compliance requirements, including ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17020, and/or ISO/IEC 17065.
