**Position Overview:**
Sales & Finance Manager
Mercedes-Benz of Dothan is seeking an experienced, motivated Sales & Finance Manager to join our management team. Previous automotive dealership experience is required, but Mercedes-Benz experience is not required. We are looking for a proven automotive professional who understands the sales process, finance and insurance, used vehicle operations, customer service, and dealership profitability.
This is a hands-on management position with responsibility for helping lead the sales department, structuring and closing deals, working with customers and lenders, and ensuring the dealership's inventory and sales processes are operating efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the sales team to achieve monthly sales, gross profit, and customer satisfaction objectives.
- Work directly with customers throughout the sales process and assist salespeople with difficult or high-value deals.
- Structure and negotiate vehicle transactions while protecting dealership gross profit.
- Work closely with the Finance Department and lenders to secure competitive financing and maximize F&I performance.
- Present and sell finance products, warranties, protection products, and other F&I offerings.
- Ensure all deals are structured accurately and completed in accordance with dealership policies, lender requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Review deal jackets and ensure all required paperwork is accurate, complete, and properly submitted.
- Assist with customer follow-up, appointments, unsold traffic, and closing opportunities.
- Help manage daily sales operations and ensure the sales team is following established dealership processes.
- Locate and acquire quality used vehicles through trades, auctions, dealer-to-dealer purchases, online sources, and other acquisition channels.
- Assist with appraising trades and determining appropriate acquisition values based on market conditions, vehicle condition, mileage, equipment, and expected profitability.
- Monitor used inventory pricing and make recommendations to remain competitive in the market.
- Manage the vehicle downtime process, ensuring used vehicles move quickly from acquisition through inspection, mechanical work, detail, photos, pricing, and frontline readiness.
- Follow up with Service, Parts, Detail, and other departments to prevent unnecessary delays in getting vehicles frontline-ready.
- Monitor aging inventory and develop strategies to maximize turn and minimize depreciation.
- Ensure all required vehicle acquisition, title, deal, inventory, and internal paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure vehicles are properly accounted for in dealership systems.
- Work closely with the General Manager and other department managers to identify opportunities to improve sales volume, gross profit, inventory turn, and overall dealership performance.
- Maintain a professional, customer-focused environment while holding the sales team accountable for performance.
- Ensure compliance with all dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, lender requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Perform other management responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous automotive dealership experience is required.
- Previous experience as a Sales Manager, Finance Manager, Desk Manager, F&I Manager, or similar dealership management position is strongly preferred.
- Mercedes-Benz experience is not required.
- Strong understanding of automotive sales, F&I, vehicle appraisals, used vehicle values, and dealership operations.
- Proven ability to structure and close automotive deals.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up abilities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deals and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively with Sales, Finance, Service, Parts, Detail, and Administration.
- Strong computer and dealership management system skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
- Must be willing to take ownership and be accountable for results.
