Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Billing Specialist and become a vital part of ensuring accurate and efficient medical billing processes. In this role, you will handle the submission of claims, manage patient accounts, and ensure timely reimbursement for services rendered. Your expertise will help streamline operations, improve revenue cycle management, and support high-quality patient care. We are looking for motivated professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about accuracy and detail in medical billing.

Duties

Prepare and submit insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with all coding standards.
Review medical records to accurately assign Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRG), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes for billing purposes.
Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to maximize collections.
Maintain detailed documentation of medical records, billing transactions, and correspondence with insurance companies.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify billing information and ensure proper coding for procedures and diagnoses.
Conduct medical collections activities by reaching out to patients or insurers to resolve outstanding balances.
Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations, including ICD coding updates, to ensure compliance and accuracy in all submissions.

Skills

Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and billing procedures.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems used for medical billing and coding processes.
Experience with DRG classification, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding standards, and ICD coding practices.
Excellent attention to detail to ensure precise coding and documentation accuracy.
Ability to navigate insurance policies and perform effective medical collections activities.
Good communication skills for interacting with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred to understand workflow dynamics.
