Production Manager
Saugatuck Brewing Company is seeking a dedicated and skilled Production Manager to join our passionate brewing team. If you have a strong work ethic, a meticulous eye for detail, and a love for crafting exceptional beer, we want to hear from you!
As the production manager, you will be an integral part of our production process, responsible for the oversight of all crucial steps from grain to packaged beer. This hands-on role requires someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to maintaining our high standards of quality and cleanliness.
The production manager is the leadership position for the production team. Overseeing the brewhouse, cellar, packaging, QC/QA and warehouse to ensure the product quality from start to finish. The PM creates the production schedule, working with our sales manager to hit sales/orders deadlines and finance team to control labor costs. The PM is responsible for ordering of all raw materials, packaging, chemicals, etc. needed to complete the production scheduling. The PM overviews and audits or brewery software Ekos to make sure it is accurate and up to date.

Responsibilities Include:
● Leads the production team to maintain strict quality and following of SOPs in all production departments
● Works with Sales Manager to create forecasting and adjust production to maintain correct packaged product inventory
● Works with vendors to understand current lead-times and maintain raw materials inventories when ordering to avoid delays to meet production demands
●Oversee production team monitoring quality and adherence to SOPs
● Accurate record-keeping on brewing software and paper logs, end of month inventory
● Oversee production safety training and adherence to Saugatuck’s safety standards
● Fill in labor gaps when necessary
● Be the coach and educator for the production team members, especially for the department leads.
● Work to maintain production metrics and conduct performance reviews. Be available for assistance with appropriate performance disciplinary actions when necessary.
Qualifications:
● Demonstrates a mastery of the brewing process
● Management level experience in a production brewery with firsthand experience in developing new processes and managing culture
● Formal brewing education and/or equivalent professional brewing experience
● BS or BA in Business, Management, Operations, Engineering or Chemistry is preferred
● 3-5 years of leadership experience, preferably in the craft beer industry
● Exceptional analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
● A strong understanding of process controls
● Extensive knowledge of food/brewing industry compliance standards including but not limited to OSHA, MIOSHA and knowledge of programs like HACCP
● Excellent computer based skills
● Familiar with Ekos brewery management software or similar brewery management software programs
● Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of the following: steam boiler, centrifuge, fork truck, roller mill, brewhouse, cellar, centrifugal pumps, keg washer and can-line
