Construction Operations Assistant (Entry-Level / Will Train!)
Not looking to be stuck behind a desk all day? Want to learn the ropes of the construction business from the ground up?
What We’re About
We build incredible custom decks and outdoor spaces that change the way families enjoy their homes. We’re passionate about our craft, doing things the right way, and giving our customers a top-tier experience. We work hard, take pride in what we build, and have a great time doing it across Intown Atlanta, Decatur, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville, Buckhead, Tucker, Dunwoody, and surrounding Metro Atlanta areas.
At Go To Guy Decks & Porches, we hire for character and train for skill. We don't need you to have a decade of experience or know the ins and outs of building regulations—we will teach you about deck codes, how to read building and site plans, and how to master industry best practices through the official Go To Guy deck building playbook! If you have hustle, a great attitude, and a reliable truck or van, we can teach you the rest. If you're organized, like staying on the move, and want to kickstart your career with a growing team, you might be the perfect fit for our Construction Operations Assistant!
What You'll Do Every Day
You'll be the glue that keeps our projects moving. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where no two days are exactly the same. Your responsibilities will include:
- Running Point on Logistics: Working directly with the Project Manager to handle daily deliveries, material pickups, and running items out to our crews spread across our Metro Atlanta job sites.
- Managing Materials: Making sure the right lumber, hardware, and supplies get to the job sites on time and in great shape.
- Documenting Progress: Using your company-provided tablet to navigate JobTread (our project management software) and CompanyCam (our project photo app) to upload site photos, update project details, and keep the whole team on the same page.
- Keeping Things Sharp: Helping us maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites that show our customers we care.
- Organizing the Shop: Keeping our material storage spaces neat so tools and materials are always easy to find.
- Quality Checks: Helping our team knock out final "punch list" details to make sure every deck looks perfect before we hand it over to the client.
- Being a Team Player: Pitching in to solve problems, helping enforce safety protocols, and bringing good energy to our weekly team meetings.
You’d Be a Great Fit If You:
- Like Getting Things Done: You take pride in finishing a task and doing it well. You don’t cut corners.
- Are Ready to Learn: You see every new challenge as a chance to level up your skills. You take feedback well and adapt quickly.
- Care About Your Impact: You want to leave things better than you found them—whether that means organizing a messy truck or making a customer smile.
- Bring Fresh Energy: You don’t just settle for “good enough.” You're always thinking of ways we can do things a little better or faster.
What You Need to Have (Qualifications)
- The Right Drive: No previous construction experience? No problem. We are looking for hustle, reliability, and someone who fits our team culture.
- Your Own Vehicle (Required): You must own a reliable truck or van capable of carrying and delivering building materials to our job sites. (Note: We want to take care of our team, so we provide strong mileage reimbursement and/or a company gas card to cover your work-related travel!).
- A Clean Record: A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the necessary vehicle insurance.
- Tech-Savvy: You need to be comfortable using technology on the go. We use apps like JobTread and CompanyCam daily (we provide the company tablet!).
- Location / Short Commute: Because our job sites are primarily in Intown Atlanta, Decatur, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville, Buckhead, Tucker, and Dunwoody, living nearby or within a short commute will make your day-to-day travel much easier!
- Physical Ability: You must be able to safely lift and carry materials over 50 lbs. when needed. Since you will be actively moving materials at our active job sites, you must also be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions—especially the Georgia summer heat!
- Common Sense & Organization: A good head on your shoulders, a decent sense of direction around Metro Atlanta, and the ability to solve problems on the fly.
