Position Summary
Keystone Perfusion Services, PC is seeking a Full-Time Staff Perfusionist to join our team at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus, Dover, Delaware. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing cardiac surgery program with a strong sense of collaboration, clinical excellence, and professional support.
Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus is a leading regional medical center delivering advanced cardiovascular care in a modern, patient-centered facility. Dover offers a welcoming community, excellent schools, and convenient access to both Philadelphia and the Delaware beaches.
The program averages about 200 open-heart procedures per year, including CABG and valve repair/replacement, with minimal ECMO support. There are no transplant or VAD cases at this site.
Clinical Setting
- Surgical Services
- Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
- Intensive Care or Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units
- Other hospital areas requiring emergent bypass support
Supervision Structure
- Direct Supervision: Physician performing the procedure & On-site Manager of Perfusion Services
- Indirect Supervision: Regional Perfusion Manager & Keystone Executive Leadership
Scope of Responsibilities
- Operate and manage extracorporeal circulation systems
- Support procedures involving ECMO, IABP, autotransfusion, hemofiltration, and blood gas analysis
- Administer medications, blood products, and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in patient medical records
- Collaborate with surgical, anesthesia, and ICU teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Support patient resuscitation and emergency interventions as required
- Maintain equipment logs and conduct routine checks to ensure readiness
- Participate in ongoing education, quality assurance, and research initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion program
- Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
- Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
