Full Job Description

General Description of the Position

The Non-Clinical Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator supports the daily operations of the nursing skills and simulation laboratory. This role is responsible for preparing lab environments, maintaining equipment, and assisting faculty and students during skills practice sessions. This non-clinical position does not involve patient care or clinical instruction.

Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Essential Functions
The following are the functions essential to performing this job.

Prepare and organize lab spaces for scheduled skills sessions and simulations
Set up, operate, and break down clinical training equipment (e.g., mannequins, task trainers, vital signs monitors)
Clean, disinfect, and maintain lab equipment and supplies according to infection control and safety guidelines
Assist instructors during lab sessions by distributing materials and supporting student practice
Monitor inventory levels and restock supplies as needed
Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and inventory
Provide basic technical support for simulation equipment and lab software
Ensure compliance with safety standards and institutional policies
Support scheduling and coordination of lab activities

Qualification Standards

Qualification Standards

Associate or bachelor’s degree (or currently enrolled) in Health Sciences, Biology, Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare environments
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar applications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with nursing students, faculty and instructors
Great communication skills (explaining instructions clearly, offering guidance)
Patience and professionalism in a learning environment
Healthcare environments (non-clinical roles such as, CNAs, MAs, or tech aides) preferred

Work Environment

Academic or clinical training lab setting
Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting equipment (approximately 25–40 lbs.)
May include evening or weekend hours based on lab schedules
