POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is for a highly organized, customer-focused door installer with a passion for delivering outstanding results. This is a part-time role with a strong emphasis on the installation and replacement of interior and exterior doors, completed with a high level of craftsmanship and in compliance with manufacturer specifications and local building codes. Additional carpentry and home improvement skills are highly valued. House Doctors is a professional handyman and home improvement service company specializing in both large and small jobs. We are looking for energetic and friendly people who enjoy working on a variety of home improvement and maintenance projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Install and replace interior and exterior doors, including pre-hung doors, slab doors, entry doors, storm doors, and patio doors
· Measure openings accurately and evaluate existing framing conditions to ensure proper fit and function
· Remove old doors, jambs, casing, and hardware with care and prepare openings for new installation
· Shim, level, square, and secure door units to ensure smooth operation and professional appearance
· Install and adjust door hardware including locks, handlesets, deadbolts, hinges, closers, and weatherstripping
· Perform finish work including casing, trim, threshold installation, and touch-up adjustments
· Troubleshoot installation challenges in older homes, including out-of-plumb walls, uneven floors, and framing irregularities
· Ensure exterior door installations are properly sealed against air and water infiltration
· Read and interpret work orders, job specifications, and manufacturer installation instructions
· Organize and manage tools and equipment required to complete daily tasks
· Work directly with clients to provide an exceptional customer service experience
· Represent House Doctors professionally in the local community
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
· 5+ years of carpentry, door installation, labor, or construction experience
· Demonstrated experience installing and replacing interior and exterior doors in residential settings
· Strong knowledge of door systems, jambs, thresholds, trim, hardware, and weatherproofing methods
· Ability to accurately measure and modify openings as needed for proper installation
· Proficiency with hand tools and power tools such as drills, impact drivers, circular saws, reciprocating saws, levels, and finish nailers
· Experience with interior trim and finish carpentry related to door installation
· Strong customer service skills – friendly, professional, and client-focused
· Ability to learn and operate basic computer programs and scheduling systems
· Strong work ethic – highly dependable and able to work independently
· Ability to perform physical labor including bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting 50+ lbs
· Valid driver's license required
· OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience installing fiberglass, steel, and wood entry doors
· Experience with storm doors, sliding patio doors, and French doors
· Have their own vehicle
· Prior experience with permit-required residential projects
· Background in trim carpentry, framing, drywall repair, or painting is a plus
· Experience as a lead installer or crew foreman
· Knowledge of flashing, sill pans, and exterior waterproofing best practices
