Veterinary Technician, Medical Oncology - CVT/LVT/RVT | $22–$35/hr | Sign-On Bonus Offered
Location: Portsmouth, NH
Schedule: Full-Time | Four 10-hour shifts per week
Compensation: $22–$35/hour + Higher compensation available for VTS

Join Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital as a full-time Medical Oncology Veterinary Technician in Portsmouth, NH. Work alongside experienced specialists and a collaborative veterinary team while providing advanced oncology care, supporting patients throughout treatment, and helping families through every step of their pet’s journey.

This is an opportunity for a CVT, LVT, or RVT who wants to expand their specialty medicine skills, utilize advanced Veterinary Technician abilities, and make a meaningful impact in a supportive specialty animal hospital environment.

Compensation

$22–$35/hour based on skills assessment, experience, and credentials
Higher compensation available for Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS)

Schedule

Four 10-hour shifts per week
Rotating weekends required

Responsibilities

Conducting patient intakes and obtaining detailed medical histories

Documenting treatments, diagnostics, and client communication in EzyVet
Managing client follow-ups, voicemails, and callbacks
Performing phlebotomy and catheter placement
Assisting with physical exams, chemotherapy administration, and diagnostic procedures
Preparing and collecting diagnostic samples including blood, urine, and fine needle aspirates
Administering medications and performing accurate medical calculations
Assisting with diagnostic imaging including radiographs, CT, and ultrasound
Monitoring anesthesia, sedation, and patient recovery
Supporting hospitalized oncology patients with ongoing treatments and nursing care
Communicating treatment plans, estimates, discharge instructions, and updates with clients
Filling prescriptions and performing in-house laboratory work
Collaborating closely with doctors and specialty teams to provide advanced, compassionate care

Qualifications

Active Veterinary Technician license (CVT, LVT, or RVT) required
Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital preferred
Experience in specialty medicine or oncology is a plus
Strong technical skills including phlebotomy, catheter placement, and patient monitoring
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced clinical environment
Solid understanding of veterinary medicine and common disease processes
Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
