Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Buyer/Material Planner to join our manufacturing team. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the timely procurement and availability of materials required to fulfill production schedules and customer demand. This role manages inventory levels, coordinates with suppliers, analyzes demand, places purchase orders, and supports efficient operations while controlling costs.
Responsibilities
Plan and purchase raw materials, components, and supplies to support production requirements
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production or operations teams
Create, release, and manage purchase orders in the ERP/MRP system.
Participate in planning and implementation of DelmiaWorks.
Track supplier deliveries and expedite orders as needed to meet production schedules.
Maintain accurate planning parameters, lead times, safety stock levels, and item master data.
Analyze demand forecasts and production schedules to determine purchasing requirements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to improve delivery performance, quality, and pricing.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors
Resolve supplier issues involving quality, quantity, pricing, or delivery discrepancies.
Participate in inventory cycle counts and support annual physical inventories.
Prepare reports related to purchasing activities, inventory, and supplier performance.
Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, and reliability.
Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation
Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
Assist with supplier performance evaluations and audits
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for the Job
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
2–5 years of purchasing, material planning, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Industry experience in plastics or textiles preferred.
