Wellspring is seeking an experienced, thoughtful, and mission-driven Senior Clinical Director to provide clinical leadership across our therapeutic and educational programs. This is a senior management position, reporting directly to the CEO, and will be responsible for supporting clinical excellence, strengthening therapeutic practice, supervising licensed clinicians, and helping guide the continued evolution of Wellspring’s programs and services.
Wellspring and the Arch Bridge School is a private, nonprofit mental health and educational organization located in the peaceful setting of Litchfield County, Connecticut. Our programs serve adolescents and young adults in long-term therapeutic and educational communities that include school and family-style residential environments.
The Senior Clinical Director will provide leadership, consultation, and oversight to licensed therapists and clinical staff across the organization. This position will help ensure that clinical services are consistent with Wellspring’s mission, philosophy, and core values while also promoting high standards of clinical care, professional growth, and accountability.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned clinical leader who is energized by the opportunity to mentor clinicians, strengthen treatment approaches, support interdisciplinary collaboration, and advance clinical excellence across programs. This individual should be comfortable working as part of a management team and contributing to organizational planning, program development, quality improvement, and clinical decision-making.
Clients and students who come to Wellspring and the Arch Bridge School often present with complex clinical needs, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma histories, victimization, suicidal behaviors, personality disorders, family conflict, adoption-related issues, substance use in partial remission, and school avoidance. Experience with these populations, in addition to Autism Spectrum Disorders and eating disorders, as well as a strong grounding in trauma-informed care, attachment-based work, and family systems, is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Clinical Director will:
· Provide leadership, supervision, and consultation to licensed therapists and clinical staff across Wellspring’s programs.
· Promote clinical excellence by supporting strong assessment, treatment planning, documentation, case formulation, and therapeutic practice.
· Oversee and support the use of clinical modalities and treatment approaches to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with Wellspring’s therapeutic philosophy.
· Serve as a senior member of the management team and contribute to program planning, organizational decision-making, and strategic initiatives.
· Support clinical staff in managing complex cases, risk issues, family dynamics, treatment barriers, and transitions in care.
· Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among clinical, residential, educational, medical, admissions, and program leadership teams.
· Mentor and develop clinicians through supervision, teaching, feedback, and professional development.
· Help maintain a culture of clinical curiosity, reflective practice, compassion, accountability, and continuous improvement.
· Participate in program evaluation, quality improvement efforts, clinical policy development, and efforts to strengthen service delivery across the organization.
· Represent Wellspring’s mission, values, and clinical philosophy to staff, families, referral sources, and community partners.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 8 years of clinical experience, including at least 2 years of post-doctoral experience.
· Current clinical licensure or credential required. Acceptable credentials include PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or other appropriate advanced clinical license.
· Experience supervising licensed clinicians and supporting multidisciplinary teams strongly preferred.
· Demonstrated expertise in adolescent and young adult mental health, trauma-informed care, family systems, psychodynamic treatment, and complex clinical presentations.
· Strong communication, teaching, mentoring, and leadership skills.
· Ability to balance clinical depth with practical leadership, sound judgment, and organizational collaboration.
· Experience with public speaking, training, program development, or clinical teaching is a plus.
