Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CPA / Assistant Controller to join a privately held, growing organization with multiple operating entities. We are looking for a highly skilled accounting professional to help lead and support financial operations across the organization, including reporting, reconciliations, general ledger management, internal controls, and multi-entity accounting.

This role is ideal for a CPA with strong accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work hands-on while also supporting higher-level financial oversight. The CPA / Assistant Controller will work closely with our finance team and bookkeeping staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, efficient workflows, strong internal controls, and organized financial operations.

The ideal candidate has at least 8 years of relevant accounting experience, a strong understanding of multi-entity accounting, and preferably experience in the construction or related industries.

Responsibilities

Oversee and support accounting functions across multiple companies within the organization.
Perform hands-on accounting work, including financial reporting, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger management.
Support assistant controller-level responsibilities, including financial accuracy, compliance, and internal controls.
Manage and review month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Maintain accurate records for multiple entities, including intercompany activity, expense tracking, and account reconciliations.
Collaborate closely with the finance team, bookkeeping staff, and leadership to maintain efficient accounting workflows.
Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow review, and strategic financial planning.
Assist with construction-related accounting needs, including project cost tracking, revenue recognition support, and financial reporting by company or project as needed.
Review financial data for accuracy and help identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting.
Support external tax, audit, or financial professionals by providing organized documentation and accurate financial information when needed.
Help maintain strong internal controls, organized records, and consistent accounting procedures across the family of companies.

Qualifications

CPA designation required.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong understanding of multi-entity accounting required.
Construction, contracting, outdoor living, service-based business, or related industry experience preferred.
Experience with general ledger management, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close.
Ability to work hands-on while also supporting higher-level financial oversight.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple companies.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with leadership, finance staff, and bookkeeping teams.
Experience with accounting software and financial reporting tools required.
Proven ability to work independently, stay organized, and support a stable, efficient accounting department.
