About Mi Casita
Mi Casita is a growing network of Spanish-immersion preschools committed to nurturing joyful, bilingual learners through project-based, culturally rich early education. With 7 schools across the Philly-Metro region and Fort Worth, Texas, and an ambition to continue growing, Mi Casita offers high-quality early childhood education that builds community, curiosity, confidence, and connection to language and culture.
Our community of educators and families shares a belief that language immersion is a gift, one that opens minds, hearts, and opportunities for our children. As we grow, we are looking for a driven, organized, bilingual HR Generalist / Recruiting Manager who can be the go-to person for our school leaders and help us bring on exceptional new staff.
Position Overview
This role is the day-to-day engine of Mi Casita's people operations. You will keep our HR data clean, accurate, and centralized, and maintain the systems and reporting that keep leadership informed. You will also own the front end of recruiting across all schools, matching each strong candidate to the role and location where they're the best strategic fit given openings, school needs, and team dynamics across our network, rather than simply filling the nearest opening. You'll review resumes, coordinate phone screens, and build the cross-school visibility that lets us recognize and place strong candidates well.
Beyond day-to-day execution, you'll contribute directly to HR strategy conversations with the COO and other senior leaders.
From time to time, and depending on capacity, you may also be asked to take on operational support work outside of HR.
This is a role for someone incredibly driven, organized, and analytical: someone who loves building order out of a lot of moving pieces, is energized by relationship-building, and takes real ownership of getting things right.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Data
- Maintain clean, centralized, and accurate employee data across all schools.
- Own recurring reporting on key people metrics (turnover, time-to-fill, training completion, and more) to leadership.
- Lead the digitization of paper-based HR processes and records, building a single, reliable line of sight into HR data and information across our network of schools.
- Build straightforward financial models and cost analyses to support HR decisions (including staffing changes, role movements, and compensation adjustments) so leadership has information before decisions are finalized.
- Support compliance recordkeeping and help keep documentation audit-ready across all locations.
- Assist with day-to-day administration of our PEO and other HR vendor relationships, escalating larger vendor issues or negotiations to the COO or other senior leaders.
- Contribute input and insight to broader HR strategy conversations with the COO and other senior leaders.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
- Own the front end of the hiring process across all schools: review incoming resumes and applications, and conduct or coordinate initial phone screens before handing off qualified candidates to hiring managers.
- Serve as the connector across schools, matching candidates to the role and location where they'll be the strongest fit by understanding openings and needs across the whole network, not just the school with the most urgent vacancy.
- Build and maintain centralized, cross-school candidate visibility so strong candidates are recognized and well-matched, and patterns across candidates and locations are understood.
- Support and standardize recruiting workflows, interview guides, and screening criteria across schools.
- Be the primary point of contact for school leaders on open roles and hiring needs.
- Manage compliance and reporting for hiring-related grant programs to help ensure Mi Casita meets program requirements and captures available funding.
Operational Support (as capacity allows)
- Take on operational support responsibilities outside of core HR work from time to time, as capacity and organizational needs allow.
- These assignments will be occasional rather than constant, and we'll be transparent with you about scope and timeline whenever one comes up.
School Leader & Employee Support
- Serve as the responsive, everyday point of contact for school leaders on routine HR and people questions, escalating complex employee relations matters to the COO.
- Support network-wide consistency in our approach to onboarding and offboarding new and departing staff.
- Support employee engagement survey administration and help track follow-through on what's heard.
Performance Management
Mi Casita has fairly strong practices already in place for teacher performance management, and this role helps keep them running well and extend them further.
- Partner with the Regional Director of Academics and the COO to ensure teacher performance management is executed well across all schools, including calibration across evaluators and tying outcomes to compensation.
- Support the build-out of strong performance management practices for other roles across the network, including School Directors and other school-based staff.
Travel Requirements
- Regular travel to Mi Casita schools across Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs to support school leaders in person and build relationships across the network.
- Occasional travel to Mi Casita's Fort Worth, Texas location.
- Reliable personal transportation is essential; regular travel between schools is a core part of this role.
- This is a hybrid role: expect regular on-site time at schools across the network, balanced with remote work for data, reporting, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
The following will set you up for success in this role:
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in HR, recruiting, operations, or administration, or equivalent experience that demonstrates strong judgment, drive, and organizational capability. We care more about demonstrated potential and work ethic than years of HR-specific experience.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English required, given Mi Casita's workforce demographics.
- Based in or near the Philadelphia metro area, with reliable transportation for regular school visits.
- Strong with spreadsheets and data: comfortable building and maintaining trackers, reports, and organized systems.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; able to juggle multiple schools, candidates, and workstreams without dropping details.
- A natural relationship-builder who earns trust quickly; school leaders should genuinely enjoy working with you, and feel comfortable coming to you with challenging HR issues.
- High energy, initiative, and follow-through; comfortable figuring things out and improving processes as you go.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and with a role that will evolve as our people-ops structure matures.
- Comfortable using AI tools to support research, organization, and communication.
- Authorized to work in the United States; employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check and all clearances required for regular presence in Pennsylvania early childhood settings, including a PA Child Abuse
- History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34), and FBI fingerprint-based criminal history
- clearance (Act 114), plus the equivalent state and federal clearances required for the Fort Worth, Texas location.
- Alignment with Mi Casita's core values (below).
Who Thrives in This Role
- You're a dog on a bone: once you're chasing down an answer, you don't let go until it's right.
- You have excellent attention to detail with numbers, timelines, deadlines, and paperwork; small errors bother you.
- You're a natural relationship-builder, adept at earning trust quickly and influencing people without relying on formal authority.
- You have a strong drive for results and take real ownership of outcomes, not just tasks.
- You can hold multiple schools, candidates, and workstreams in your head at once without dropping details.
- You see structure and systems as tools for helping people do their jobs well, not paperwork for its own sake.
- You're energized by being the go-to person others rely on, and you take pride in being responsive and dependable.
- You'd rather help shape a role that's still being defined than have every detail handed to you already fixed.
