Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Culinary Director to lead the culinary operations within an assisted living community. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food service management, dietary planning, and team leadership, with a focus on delivering nutritious, high-quality meals that meet regulatory standards. As Culinary Director, you will oversee all aspects of food production, staff supervision, and compliance with health policies, ensuring residents receive exceptional dining experiences that promote health and well-being. This role offers an opportunity to influence quality of life through innovative nutrition programs and effective management practices.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement nutritious, appealing menus tailored to the dietary needs of assisted living residents, incorporating clinical nutrition principles and current food trends.
Manage and supervise food service teams, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes safety, efficiency, and high standards of food quality.
Oversee food production processes to ensure timely delivery of meals while maintaining strict adherence to food safety management and health regulation policies.
Conduct patient assessments related to nutritional needs and care plans, collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize dietary interventions.
Ensure compliance with all food service health codes, safety regulations, and documentation requirements such as electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Manage departmental budgets effectively, controlling costs related to food procurement, labor, and equipment without compromising quality.
Lead training initiatives on food safety management, tube feeding procedures, and dietary protocols to maintain a knowledgeable and compliant team.

Experience

Proven experience in assisted living or long-term care settings with a strong understanding of clinical nutrition and dietetics.
Demonstrated success managing food service teams within a healthcare or senior living environment, including supervising staff and managing schedules.
Extensive knowledge of health regulation policies related to food safety, sanitation standards, and EHR/Electronic Health Records management.
Familiarity with acute care environments and the unique nutritional requirements associated with such settings.
Experience in budget management, food production planning, and implementing care plans that incorporate dietary considerations for diverse resident needs.
Strong leadership skills combined with excellent communication abilities to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams effectively.
Knowledge of physiology as it pertains to aging populations and chronic health conditions affecting nutritional status.
