Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in laboratory procedures and techniques, with a focus on patient service and specimen collection. This is a hybrid role combing Phlebotomist and Medical Assistant duties.

Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist – Job Description

In our clinical setting, the Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist plays a vital role in supporting both patient care and laboratory operations. This position ensures accurate specimen collection and assists with clinical duties while maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and professionalism. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to quality patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Duties

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection with accuracy, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Collect, label, and process specimens in accordance with established protocols and laboratory standards.
Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant patient information.
Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient flow.
Maintain aseptic techniques to ensure infection control and specimen integrity.
Prepare and handle specimens for laboratory testing and transport.
Accurately document patient interactions, procedures, and specimen details in the medical record.
Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, lab areas, and medical equipment.
Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures and addressing questions or concerns.
Adhere to all clinic policies, OSHA guidelines, and safety regulations.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Medical Assistant and/or Phlebotomist in a clinical or laboratory setting.
Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques, specimen handling, and basic clinical procedures.
Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices.
Phlebotomy certification required or strongly preferred; Medical Assistant certification is a plus.
Experience in a healthcare or outpatient setting preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
