Interior Designer or Architect (Contract – Remote)

M2 Design is a boutique luxury interior design firm specializing in high-end residential new construction and extensive remodel projects throughout California and Texas. We are currently seeking to add an additional talented and detail-oriented experienced Interior Designer or Architect with AutoCAD drawings and construction documents knowledge to join our team on a contract basis.
This is a remote, flexible position ideal for someone looking to supplement their current workload with ongoing project-based opportunities. Typically, the workload is a few hours per week, but it can increase or decrease depending on active projects and client demand.
The primary responsibilities for this position include:
- Preparing accurate AutoCAD drawings and construction documents.
- Developing detailed interior elevations, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and millwork drawings.
- Assisting with FF&E packages, including furniture, fixtures, finishes, plumbing, lighting, and material specifications.
- Preparing presentation drawings and supporting documentation for clients, builders, and developers.
- Coordinating revisions and maintaining organized drawing sets throughout each project.
A strong understanding of luxury residential construction, architectural detailing, custom cabinetry, lighting, plumbing fixtures, furniture, and interior finish materials is essential. Beyond drafting skills, I'm looking for someone who understands design intent and can help translate concepts into clear, build-able construction documents.
One of the most important qualities I'm looking for is quick and reliable CAD turnaround. Our projects often move at a fast pace, so meeting agreed-upon deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy is critical. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and reliability are qualities I value just as highly as technical ability.
Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual space planning and design drawings
- Produce detailed AutoCAD construction documents
- Create highly detailed kitchen, bathroom, bar, closet, and custom cabinetry drawings
- Develop cabinet elevations, sections, and millwork details suitable for construction
- Generate photorealistic 3D renderings for client presentations
- Assist with design development and material coordination
- Revise drawings based on client and team feedback
- Collaborate remotely with our design team to meet project deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of residential construction and interior architecture
- Experience producing detailed kitchen and bathroom cabinetry drawings
- Ability to interpret architectural plans and develop interior construction documents
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and reliability are qualities I value just as highly as technical ability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in SketchUp, Revit, and/or Chief Architect
- Experience with rendering software such as Enscape, Lumion, V-Ray, Twinmotion, or similar
- Previous experience working on luxury residential projects
- Interior Design or Architecture education and/or professional experience
- Interior Design material sourcing; interior finish-out materials, tile, wood, lighting, textiles, etc...
Position Details

- Typical turnaround time for standard CAD revisions and drawing packages is 24–48 hours
