The Role of a Registered Nurse

A Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed healthcare professional who plays a vital role in providing quality patient care and promoting overall health and wellness. Registered nurses work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to assess patients' conditions, develop care plans, administer treatments, and monitor recovery. Their expertise, compassion, and critical thinking skills are essential to ensuring patients receive safe and effective care in a variety of healthcare settings.

One of the primary responsibilities of a registered nurse is to assess patients by reviewing their medical history, performing physical examinations, and monitoring vital signs. Based on these assessments, nurses develop and implement individualized care plans that address each patient's unique needs. They administer medications, perform medical procedures, assist with diagnostic tests, and evaluate patients' responses to treatment while documenting all care accurately in medical records.

In addition to providing direct patient care, registered nurses serve as educators and advocates.
