Full Job Description

Supplemental Health Care is partnering with a school district in Ashburn, VA who are seeking multiple dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) for a school clinic float assignment supporting student health services across multiple school locations. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who enjoy working with children, adapting to different environments, and providing high-quality clinical care in educational settings.

As a Float Nurse, you will provide coverage for school health offices as needed, support students with chronic health conditions, and assist with medical care during school and after-school activities.

Assignment Details

Contract Position
Assignment Dates: 08/03/2026 - 06/11/2027
Hours per Day: 7.5 | Hours per Week: 37.5 (up to 40 hours with approval)
Schedule Availability Preferred: Approximately 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay: $38.00 - $42.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Provide nursing coverage for school health offices as assigned.
Follow weekly schedules and staffing assignments.
Assist with coverage needs due to nurse absences and staffing changes.
Support students requiring specialized healthcare services, including diabetes-related care.
Administer medications and provide routine nursing care in accordance with established policies.
Respond to student health emergencies and implement emergency action plans.
Communicate effectively with school staff, students, families, and healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation.

Float Nurse Expectations:

Cover health offices across multiple school sites.
Be reassigned when staffing needs arise.
Support after-school student healthcare needs.
Travel between assigned schools during work hours.
Receive compensation for required work-related travel between locations.

Required Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
Eligible for required state nursing licensure compliance
Ability to obtain and pass fingerprinting requirements
Comfortable working independently in a school clinic environment
Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to travel between multiple school locations
Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and assignments

Training Provided

Comprehensive training will be provided through a combination of in-person and online learning. All required training hours will be reimbursed.
