Position Summary
Prime Sweeping is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and hardworking Parking Lot Sweeper Operator to join our nighttime operations team. This position is responsible for operating a commercial parking lot sweeper truck and completing assigned properties safely, efficiently, and according to Prime Sweeping’s service standards.
The Sweeper Operator will travel along an assigned route and clean commercial parking lots, retail centers, shopping centers, office properties, and other customer locations. Operators are expected to remove litter, dirt, leaves, debris, and other materials from parking areas, curbs, sidewalks, corners, loading areas, and other designated service areas.
This is a full-time overnight position requiring 40 hours per week over five scheduled workdays. Employees will receive two days off each week; however, scheduled days off will normally be during the week. Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays when scheduled.

Primary Responsibilities
The Parking Lot Sweeper Operator will be responsible for the following:
- Safely operate a commercial parking lot sweeper truck
- Complete all assigned properties and routes during the scheduled shift
- Sweep parking lots, drive lanes, entrances, exits, fire lanes, loading areas, and other designated paved surfaces
- Remove dirt, leaves, paper, cups, bottles, food containers, cigarette waste, and other loose debris
- Use the sweeper truck’s vacuum, broom, water, lighting, and other operating systems correctly
- Blow debris from sidewalks, curbs, corners, storefront areas, islands, and areas the sweeper truck cannot directly reach
- Move debris into an accessible area so it can be collected by the sweeper truck
- Hand-pick larger debris that cannot safely be collected by the sweeper
- Clean around curbs, parking blocks, cart corrals, landscaped islands, dumpster areas, and building entrances when included in the property’s service requirements
- Inspect the property for illegal dumping, damaged equipment, blocked areas, hazards, or unusual conditions
- Take clear photographs or complete electronic service reports when required
- Report property concerns, safety hazards, excessive debris, illegal dumping, damaged trash cans, or access problems to the supervisor
- Follow the assigned route sequence unless directed otherwise by management
- Complete each property according to the customer’s scope of work and Prime Sweeping’s quality standards
- Avoid damaging vehicles, curbs, signs, landscaping, buildings, parking blocks, gates, and other property
- Operate the sweeper carefully around parked vehicles, pedestrians, customers, delivery drivers, and other contractors
- Maintain awareness of low-clearance areas, overhead obstructions, traffic, and changing property conditions
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable traffic laws
- Communicate immediately with the supervisor regarding accidents, equipment problems, injuries, property damage, or route delays
Vehicle Inspection and Equipment Responsibilities
Operators are responsible for inspecting and caring for their assigned vehicle and equipment. Responsibilities include:
- Complete a pre-trip inspection before leaving the company facility
- Check tires, lights, mirrors, fluids, safety equipment, warning devices, and visible vehicle condition
- Inspect sweeper brooms, suction hoses, hopper, water system, blower equipment, and other operating components
- Confirm that all required tools, safety equipment, trash bags, fuel cards, keys, and supplies are available before departure
- Report mechanical problems or safety concerns before operating the vehicle
- Monitor warning lights, gauges, fluid levels, and vehicle performance throughout the shift
- Stop operating the vehicle and contact a supervisor if an unsafe mechanical condition develops
- Refuel the vehicle as directed
- Empty the sweeper hopper only in approved locations
- Clean the hopper, screens, hoses, brooms, cab, and other equipment as required
- Remove personal trash and belongings from the vehicle at the end of the shift
- Return the vehicle, keys, fuel cards, and equipment to the proper location
- Complete post-trip paperwork, electronic reports, or vehicle condition forms before clocking out
- Never operate a company vehicle in a careless, reckless, or abusive manner
Attendance and Reliability Expectations
Because each operator is assigned customer properties that must be serviced on specific nights, dependable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
Employees must:
- Report to work on time for every scheduled shift
- Maintain regular and dependable attendance
- Be available for scheduled weekend and holiday shifts
- Notify management as soon as possible when an emergency may prevent attendance
- Follow all company call-out and attendance procedures
- Remain available and responsive to supervisors during the shift
- Complete the entire assigned route unless released by management
- Avoid unauthorized route changes, extended stops, or leaving the assigned service area
- Maintain a working mobile phone for communication and route-related applications
- Follow company policies regarding timekeeping, breaks, fuel cards, company vehicles, and electronic devices
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Have a clean and acceptable driving record
- Be insurable under Prime Sweeping’s commercial vehicle insurance requirements
- Successfully complete a motor vehicle record review
- Successfully complete a pre-employment drug test
- Successfully complete a DOT physical examination before beginning employment
- Meet all physical and medical requirements necessary to operate company equipment safely
- Have reliable transportation to and from the Prime Sweeping facility
- Be able to work evening and overnight hours
- Be available to work weekends
- Be able to work independently with limited direct supervision
- Be able to follow written instructions, route sheets, maps, GPS directions, checklists, and electronic work orders
- Be able to communicate clearly with supervisors and management
- Be able to safely operate a commercial vehicle in parking lots, traffic, and confined areas
- Be able to pass any additional background or employment screening required by the company or its customers
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required pre-employment screenings, including the drug test, DOT physical, driving-record review, and verification that the applicant is eligible to operate a Prime Sweeping vehicle. These screenings will be completed before employment begins.
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is preferred but not required:
- Previous parking lot sweeping experience
- Previous commercial driving experience
- Experience operating street sweepers, vacuum sweepers, landscaping equipment, box trucks, work trucks, or similar commercial equipment
- Experience working overnight routes
- Experience using route-management or mobile workforce applications
- Knowledge of Metro Atlanta roads and commercial properties
- Experience completing vehicle inspections and basic equipment checks
Prime Sweeping may provide training to qualified applicants who demonstrate a strong work ethic, safe driving habits, mechanical awareness, and the ability to learn.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the employee to:
- Sit and drive for extended periods
- Enter and exit the sweeper truck repeatedly throughout the shift
- Walk across parking lots, sidewalks, loading areas, and uneven surfaces
- Bend, reach, twist, climb, kneel, and stoop as necessary
- Use handheld blowers, brooms, litter grabbers, and other cleaning equipment
- Lift, carry, push, or pull supplies and debris weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
- Perform work outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Work around dust, dirt, leaves, trash, vehicle exhaust, odors, noise, and moving vehicles
- Maintain awareness and safely perform duties during nighttime and low-light conditions
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including reflective safety clothing and other assigned safety equipment

Work Environment
Parking Lot Sweeper Operators work primarily outdoors and inside a commercial sweeper truck during evening and overnight hours. Employees may be exposed to:
- Heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and changing weather
- Dust, dirt, pollen, leaves, trash, and unpleasant odors
- Loud equipment and vehicle noise
- Moving vehicles and pedestrians
- Uneven pavement, potholes, speed bumps, curbs, and parking blocks
- Poorly lit areas and nighttime traffic
- Dumpster areas, loading docks, and other commercial property conditions
Employees are expected to remain alert, use good judgment, and immediately report any condition that cannot be serviced safely.
Safety Expectations
Safety is a condition of employment at Prime Sweeping. Operators must:
- Wear seat belts whenever the vehicle is moving
- Follow all traffic laws and company driving policies
- Never use a handheld mobile phone while driving
- Never operate a company vehicle while impaired, overly fatigued, or medically unable to drive safely
- Never possess or use alcohol, illegal drugs, or unauthorized controlled substances while working or operating company equipment
- Use required reflective clothing and personal protective equipment
- Maintain a safe distance from vehicles, pedestrians, buildings, landscaping, and other objects
- Immediately report all accidents, injuries, property damage, citations, and near-miss incidents
- Follow supervisor instructions when weather, equipment conditions, fireworks, fire hazards, or other circumstances make sweeping unsafe
- Never operate equipment that has been identified as unsafe until authorized by management

Successful Sweeper Operators are expected to:
- Complete assigned routes accurately and within reasonable route times
- Provide consistent service at every assigned property
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude
- Treat customers, coworkers, supervisors, and members of the public respectfully
- Protect customer and company property
- Follow instructions and accept coaching from supervisors
- Maintain accurate service documentation
- Report problems honestly and promptly
- Keep company vehicles and equipment reasonably clean
- Demonstrate safe and defensive driving habits
- Maintain confidentiality regarding customer locations, routes, access information, and company operations
- Represent Prime Sweeping professionally at all times
Employment Requirements
Applicants should understand the following before applying:
