Position: Out-of-School Time (OST) Program Lead
Location: Myers-Wilkins Elementary School
Employment Type: part-time, up to 28 hours
Typical Schedule: Monday-Thursday 12:00-6:00, Friday 12:00-4:00
Salary: $20.00 per hour

Purpose: The Program Lead is part of a team providing high-quality after-school programming focused on increasing students’ sense of belonging and engagement with their school. The after-school program consists of academic support, a rotation of clubs, projects, sports and other enrichment activities. After-school programming provides students 1) a safe place to be after school, 2) the opportunity to build relationships with caring adults and their peers, and 3) a chance to explore their interests or find new ones. This position reports to the Out-of-School Time Coordinator.
Essential Duties:
● Supervise Students & Others:
○ Oversee the facilitation of after-school activities for K-5th grade students, including the work of club leaders, community partners, and volunteers
○ Supervision of students and behavior management with a growth mindset
○ Maintain accountability for safety of youth at all times
● Support Program Operations:
○ Direct support staff with their daily duties and program tasks
○ Assist with daily logistics such as attendance, facilities, snacks, supplies, and transportation
○ Collect and report attendance and other data
● Prepare Program Content:
○ Work with Out-of-School Time Coordinator to develop activity plans
○ Create a weekly schedule and prepare materials to ensure the delivery of high-quality programming
● Family/Community Engagement:
○ Positive communication with families about student growth and behavior, with support of OST Coordinator
○ Support correspondence with partner organizations and volunteers
○ Assist with school events
● Build Relationships:
○ Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, community partners, and volunteers
○ Establish a safe and inclusive environment
Job Qualifications:
● Minimum of one year of experience working with youth, including planning and leading engaging activities
● Ability to serve as a positive, reliable, and consistent role model for youth
● Strong, compassionate, and effective communication skills when working with young people, families, and staff.
● Foster a safe, diverse, and inclusive environment, and the ability to adhere to all policies set by DCSC and ISD 709
● Demonstrated effort to ongoing development of professional and personal growth in diversity, equity, and inclusion
● A commitment to the mission, goals, and philosophy of the Duluth Community School Collaborative
● Coursework or training in youth development, education, social work, early childhood, or related fields
● Experience in creating surveys, data collection, and data analysis/reporting
● Possession of a valid driver’s license and insured, willing to drive an organization van for short trips
● Physical requirements are to lift and move boxes of food up to 40 lbs
