Position Summary:
The Site Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation and maintenance of the Stockyard Wind facility in Dumas, Texas. This role provides direct leadership for site personnel, contractors, service providers, and operational activities supporting the Suzlon S64 and Suzlon S88 turbine fleet.
The Site Manager serves as the primary on-site representative of PivotGen and is accountable for safety performance, turbine availability, maintenance execution, site budgeting, inventory management, contractor oversight, regulatory compliance, customer relations, and general business operations. The Site Manager works closely with the Regional Manager, Asset Management, Engineering, Operations, Safety, Procurement, and external stakeholders to maximize turbine performance while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Position Objective:
Ensure Stockyard Wind operates safely, efficiently, and professionally while maximizing turbine availability, supporting long-term asset health, developing site personnel, and delivering operational results consistent with PivotGen's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture throughout all site operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, PivotGen safety procedures, environmental requirements, and customer-specific safety standards.
- Conduct routine safety meetings, audits, inspections, and field observations.
- Manage corrective actions resulting from audits, incidents, near misses, and safety observations.
- Verify technicians and contractors maintain required certifications and training.
- Support emergency response planning and site emergency preparedness.
- Ensure proper use and inspection of fall protection, rescue equipment, AEDs, first aid supplies, and other site safety resources.
Operations and Maintenance
- Manage all daily operations and maintenance activities for the Stockyard Wind facility.
- Ensure scheduled maintenance is completed on time and in accordance with OEM and PivotGen standards.
- Coordinate major corrective repairs, including gearboxes, generators, main bearings, pitch systems, hydraulic systems, transformers, collection systems, and blade repairs.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Review operational data and prioritize maintenance activities based on turbine performance and reliability.
- Respond to plant outages and operational emergencies as required.
- Maintain a high level of turbine availability and production performance.
Suzlon Fleet Asset Management
- Maintain working knowledge of Suzlon S64 and Suzlon S88 turbine systems.
- Oversee fleet-specific reliability initiatives and track recurring failures.
- Coordinate long-term corrective actions with Engineering and Asset Management.
- Review maintenance histories and technical reports for fleet optimization.
- Support implementation of retrofit and repower projects as required.
Personnel Management
- Directly supervise site technicians and field personnel.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and development planning.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, evaluations, and succession planning.
- Establish work priorities, weekly schedules, and staffing plans required to support site operations.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
Contractor and Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for contractors and service providers.
- Coordinate crane providers, blade repair companies, electrical contractors, testing firms, and specialty service providers.
- Assist with RFQ development, contractor selection, and project planning.
- Verify contractor compliance with safety, quality, contractual, and prevailing wage requirements where applicable.
- Review contractor performance, oversee project execution, and ensure accurate closeout documentation.
Inventory and Warehouse Management
- Oversee site inventory and warehouse operations.
- Maintain accurate stock levels for critical turbine components and consumables.
- Establish inventory controls, cycle counts, and proper storage and tracking practices.
- Coordinate procurement requests, material forecasting, receiving, staging, and allocation.
- Minimize turbine downtime through proactive inventory planning.
Budgeting and Financial Management
- Manage site operating expenses within approved budgets. Assist with annual operating plans, budget development, forecasting, and long-term site planning.
- Review invoices, purchase orders, contractor costs, and project expenditures.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency.
SCADA and Performance Monitoring
- Use SCADA systems and reporting tools to monitor asset performance.
- Review operational trends, alarms, and equipment health indicators.
- Generate operational reports and performance summaries.
- Support troubleshooting using SCADA data and analytics and coordinate resolution with Engineering and Operations.
High Voltage and Electrical Systems
- Coordinate high-voltage switching activities in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support operation and maintenance of substations, collection systems, pad-mount transformers, metering equipment, and electrical protection devices.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and switching procedures.
- Coordinate specialized testing and maintenance vendors when required.
Compliance and Documentation
- Maintain site records, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, environmental permits, NERC requirements where applicable, customer obligations, and PivotGen procedures.
- Manage maintenance, safety, contractor, asset management, inventory, and training records.
Stakeholder Relations
- Serve as the primary on-site representative for PivotGen.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with landowners, utilities, local government agencies, regulatory agencies, customers, vendors, and community representatives.
- Support customer visits, audits, inspections, and project reviews.
Reporting Requirements
- Prepare daily Plan of Day and End of Day reports.
- Provide weekly operations summaries, safety metrics, incident reports, turbine availability reports, major corrective tracking, inventory reports, budget updates, and contractor performance updates.
- Report site KPIs and material operational issues to the Regional Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor degree in Engineering, Business, Renewable Energy, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum five years of wind industry experience.
- Minimum two years of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience managing technicians, contractors, and utility-scale wind operations and maintenance activities.
- Valid driver license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to relocate to Dumas, Texas, or the surrounding area.
- Ability to climb wind turbines up to 300 feet and work in confined spaces and elevated environments.
- Ability to respond to emergency callouts and outage events.
- Must be able to proficiently read, write, and speak English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Suzlon S64 and/or Suzlon S88 turbines.
- High-voltage switching and SCADA troubleshooting experience.
- CMMS, inventory, warehouse, budgeting, and financial management experience.
- OSHA, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR/AED, GWO, or equivalent industry certifications.
- Strong understanding of wind turbine major component replacements and crane operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership, team management, communication, and organizational skills.
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, and strong technical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining safety and operational excellence.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SCADA, CMMS, and operational reporting tools.
