Certified Central Supply Tech-Will Train

Location: Brooks Memorial Hospital

Job Description

Provides assistance in the GI Lab and Anesthesia by including, but not limited to: setting up the room ensuring all supplies are available prior to initiation of the procedure; checking and restocking anesthesia machines following the established checklist and infection control guidelines; replacing anesthesia circuits, suction and tubing, CO2 sampling lines, soda sorb, oxygen and nitrous tanks as necessary; cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing various instruments and supplies following manufacturer instructions and best practice infection control guidelines including but not limited to endoscopes, laryngoscope blades and videoscopes; maintaining all necessary safety, quality assurance and infection control logs; managing all inventory, stock, non-stock and new product requests; coordinating equipment repairs and loaner requests; moving equipment, carts and transporting patients as requested; and entering surgery supply charges as necessary;Decontaminates reusable equipment and supplies in order to eliminate contamination and/or infection ensuring safety for patient use by including, but not limited to: following manufacturer instructions; utilizing hospital approved disinfectants, detergents, cleaning supplies and equipment;Inspects, and assemble instrument sets, supplies and equipment according to manufacturer and hospital policy by including, but not limited to: using content list or procedure list as guide; choosing appropriate packaging, correct labeling, internal and external indicator placement; processing all chemical, mechanical and biological controls, documenting per policy; In conjunction with Director, Infection Control, Biomed, initiating and coordinating product recalls or equipment quarantines based on chemical, mechanical, or biological results; Sterilizing instrumentation, equipment and supplies utilizing various units, technologies, cycles, following manufacturer instructions and department policies; documenting cycle information and confirms outcomes;Manages appropriate stock and delivers supplies upon request or per assigned inventory location assuring standards have been met prior to distribution by including, but not limited to: assuring surgery communication forms are complete for assigned cases; transporting supplies following best practice; restocking inventory as necessary using FIFO methods; completing monthly outdate inspections and audits as assigned;completes surgical case carts appropriately by specific case by, including, but not limited to: utilizing preference card list; assuring equipment and supplies are available; working in conjunction with Materials Management to assure inventory PAR levels; notifying surgery staff of unavailable supplies / substitutes; providing all requested charge information to Materials Management as requested;Dedicated to maintaining a high level of quality and strives to meet or exceed quality expectations by including, but not limited to: engaging in quality improvement initiatives, including departmental and hospital wide; taking initiative to identify Quality Improvement opportunities and presenting them to the Director;Provides service excellence to internal and external customers, meeting or exceeding expectations by, including, but not limited to: communicating in an open and cooperative manner; building trust and respect by consistently providing quality products in a timely manner;maintains a safe environment of care by, including, but not limited to: complying with all departmental and facility wide policies and procedures; reporting and acting on unsafe conditions / equipment and reporting them to the Director; reviewing and understanding all MSDS processes; adhering to PPE protocol at all times;Participates with all departmental and facility wide education and training goals by, including but not limited to: obtaining 10 (ten) continuing education units annually as required by NYS; completing all hospital/department required in-services; regularly attending department meetings.

Education And Credentials

High School Graduate or Equivalent. Certification in Central Sterile Processing through an accredited program or grandfathered in accordance to the standard.

One year experience in CSP or healthcare preferred
