An employee in this position performs professional engineering work for Harnett Regional Water in the design review and inspection of engineering plans for utility construction projects to identify degree of compliance with Harnett County ordinances, state laws, and generally accepted codes and specifications. Work includes conducting engineering studies and analysis; preparing cost estimates related to the extension of utility services; preparing engineering plans and specifications; serving as project engineer on utility projects; inspecting projects; answering questions related to plans and specifications; reviewing site plans, subdivisions, and building permits for compliance with County requirements; and reviewing and approving plans. Work also includes: writing letters specifying needed changes to plans; coordinating with the state reporting requirements for project approval; researching and updating regulations and specifications; maintaining subdivision files; coordinating with other departments, Department of Transportation (DOT), developers, engineers, and others; applying water and sewer modeling/analysis for ongoing project and operations needs within the water and sewer system; and supervising assigned staff.
Hiring Range: Mid Point $122,866.00 to Maximum $153,004.00
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to perform light work frequently exerting up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; and occasionally requiring to exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects. This work also involves the physical abilities of balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, discriminating among sounds, kneeling, lifting, having manual dexterity, using mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, performing repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, expressing ideas by the spoken word, shouting to be heard above ambient noise, and walking. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee works mainly indoors and works occasionally in the field meeting with contractors, inspecting work, and assisting with surveys.
