Job description:

Position Overview: Under the direction of the Billing Manager, the Billing Specialist is responsible for all claim management duties including claims processing, accounts receivables, and payment posting. The Billing Specialist ensures that billing is optimized, and errors are minimized by identifying opportunities through audit, observation, and trending. This is an on-site position.

About Midwest Recovery: Midwest Recovery has 4 offices located in Minnesota which consist of 2 outpatient facilities and 2 inpatient facilities located in Burnsville, Bloomington, Faribault, and Northfield.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Determines priorities and methods of completing daily workload to ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely manner
Performs all job functions in a professional and courteous manner
Fosters and promotes a culture of service excellence and accountability
Effectively communicates with providers to clarify diagnoses, procedure coding and documentation requirements, including proper sequencing
Reviews clinical time and census to ensure accurate claims production
Queues and sends claims, works payer response reports, and resubmits claims as required. Reports or resolve escalated issues as necessary
Runs monthly eligibility
Works denials and Accounts Receivables
Serves as subject matter specialist regarding claims, Accounts Receivables, and reimbursements.
Monitor client insurance expiration and prior authorization requests
Collaborates with interdepartmental and/or cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate claim submission and claim payment
Comply with organizational policies and procedures (HIPAA)
Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications and Skills:

2-3 years of health insurance billing experience.
Exposure to Electronic Medical Record systems – Procentive is preferred.
Must be comfortable educating providers
Organizes and prioritizes work with minimal supervision
Performs essential job duties independently and exercises good judgement
Must be detail oriented
Demonstrates initiative and creativity in assigned work while constantly attempting to improve workflows
Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Suite
Displays positive outlook on the job and promotes professional behavior
Manges time efficiently and follows through on duties to completion
Works well with others

Schedule:

Monday to Friday
8- Hour shift

Experience:

Medical billing: 2 years (Required)
Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the revenue cycle process.
Medicaid, Medicare, and Behavioral Health market experience required.
General computer system knowledge is required.
Working knowledge of MN PMAP, MN-ITS, MN-DAANES, and Procentive Experience preferred.
