Job Description

Role: Data Governance Analyst (Stewardship & Insights)

Location: Hybrid in Oak Park Heights, MN

Duration: 6 months, likely to extend or convert

Rate: $50 - $63/hour W2, dependent on skills and qualifications

Governance only works if it's part of how work actually gets done, not a separate step people have to remember. That's the gap this role fills.

You'll sit inside a Data Governance Hub, part steward and part analyst, working directly with data product teams to build governance into delivery from day one. Think CDE tagging, data quality rules, and metadata capture becoming a normal part of the backlog instead of an afterthought.

You'll partner closely with the Data Governance Product Owner and with analysts and SMEs across the business to keep data discoverable, trusted, and consistently defined, all without slowing teams down.

Required:

Experience in data governance, data stewardship, or data analysis
Intermediate SQL
Power BI or a similar data visualization tool
Experience working across multiple systems or business domains
Strong communication skills, with comfort moving between business and technical conversations

Nice to Have:

Experience with a data catalog tool like Atlan, Purview, Collibra, or Alation
Time working inside a data product or agile delivery team
A solid grasp of data quality concepts

Worth knowing:

This role doesn't fix data in source systems, make independent classification calls, interpret regulatory requirements, or manage security controls. That authority stays with the Data Owners. Your job is building the structure that makes their decisions easier to execute well.
