We offer competitive starting wages at $18.00-$24/hour depending on qualifications, including education and ABA experience.

Job Title: Behavior Therapist, MHP (job requires 1,000-4,000 hours working with children under age 18 with a disability depending on educational background)

Reports To: BCBA or BCaBA Clinical Staff who are experts in ABA

Position: Full Time Behavior therapists

Hours: Monday through Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Requirements for Level 2 Provider for behavior therapist role:

1. Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral or child development science or a related field (e.g., mental health, special education, social work, psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy, health science, education, sociology, nursing, human services, counseling, family studies), and meet at least one of the following requirements:

Have at least 1,000 hours of clinical experience and/or training in the evaluation and treatment of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or a related condition
Have completed the equivalent in graduate-level coursework (ASD related) at an accredited university
Be a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the BACB
Be certified in one of the other treatment modalities recognized by DHS (see EIDBI – Treatment modalities)

2. Enroll as a level II provider under the provider shortage variance if they meet all the following requirements:

Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university in one of the behavioral or child development sciences or a related field (e.g., mental health, special education, social work, psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy, health science, education, sociology, nursing, human services, counseling, family studies)
Receive Observation and Direction from a qualified supervising professional (QSP) or a Level 1 Provider at least twice a month until meeting the 1,000 hours of supervised clinical experience- (Comfort Autism Center will provide this)

3. Have both:

An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a behavioral or child development science or a related field (e.g., mental health, special education, social work, psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy, health science, education, sociology, nursing, human services, counseling, family studies)
At least 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience delivering treatment to people with ASD or a related condition

Note: The provider can include hours worked as a mental health behavioral aide, special education paraprofessional or an EIDBI level III provider as required hours of experience)

4. Have at least 4,000 hours of supervised clinical experience delivering treatment to people with ASD or a related condition

5. Meet all of the following requirements:

Age 18 or older
Fluent in a non-English language
Completed the EIDBI level III provider training requirements
Receive observation and direction from a QSP or qualified level I provider at least once per week until meeting 1,000 hours of supervised clinical experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
Follow and record data for prescribed toilet training protocols.
Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
Utilize safe & appropriate handing procedures when working with clients.
Maintain client confidentiality.
Assist with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessments.
Assist in preparing client materials as instructed.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly.
Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members.
Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and RBT code of ethics.
Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA laws.
Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills, professional development, ethics, and technology, and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standard.
Ability to interpret and implement clinical protocols and written.
Must maintain a professional appearance with regard to clothing, grooming, hair, and make-up.

BASIC & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
Must be willing and able to utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan of each individual client.
Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.

Salary: $18.00-$24/hour depending on education and ABA experience
