Financial Controller
Location: Office - Euless, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Who You Are
You are a detail-oriented finance professional who takes pride in delivering accuracy, integrity, and clarity in everything you do. You enjoy building structure, improving processes, and creating financial systems that enable a business to grow with confidence.
You are naturally analytical and enjoy turning financial data into meaningful insights that support better decision-making. Rather than simply reporting on performance, you proactively identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and help solve business challenges before they become problems.
You thrive in collaborative environments and build strong relationships across the organization. You're comfortable partnering with leaders across different functions, translating complex financial information into clear, practical advice that helps teams make informed decisions.
You are a hands-on Controller who is comfortable getting into transaction-level detail when necessary. You can trace a transaction from the underlying operational system through settlement, invoicing, cash and ultimately the general ledger, identify where something broke, and establish a process to prevent it from recurring.
Who We Are
At Mender, we help organizations maximize the value of retired technology through industry-leading IT Asset Disposition (ITAD), Data Center Decommissioning, and technology lifecycle services.
Our customers trust us because we believe in doing business the right way. We value honesty, transparency, innovation, and treating people with respect.
Everything we do is guided by our core values:
- No Drama
- Honesty & Transparency

As we continue to grow, we're looking for people who share those values and want to build something exceptional.
The Opportunity
As Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Mender's financial operations are accurate, compliant, and positioned to support sustainable growth. This role exists to provide strong financial oversight across the business, delivering reliable reporting, robust financial controls, and meaningful commercial insights that enable leadership to make confident, data-driven decisions.
Working closely with the executive leadership team and collaborating with stakeholders across operations, sales, customer success, and external partners, you will act as a trusted business partner who helps translate financial performance into strategic action. You'll take ownership of the company's day-to-day finance function while continuously improving processes, systems, and reporting as the business scales.
During your first year, you'll establish yourself as the owner of Mender's financial operations by strengthening financial controls, improving the accuracy and timeliness of reporting, optimizing budgeting and forecasting processes, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability. Your work will provide the financial foundation that allows the business to grow confidently while maintaining strong governance and operational excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own the end-to-end finance function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations across the business.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, producing high-quality financial statements and management reports.
- Develop and maintain strong financial controls, governance processes, and accounting policies to support a growing organization.
- Build and manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes, providing clear visibility into financial performance.
- Partner with the executive leadership team to deliver commercial insights that support strategic planning and business decision-making.
- Analyze financial performance, key metrics, and business trends, identifying opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and operational performance.
- Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and other financial service providers.
- Own the integrity and reconciliation of financial data between Mender's operational/ERP systems and the general ledger, including revenue, COGS, inventory, settlements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax obligations, and statutory reporting requirements across the jurisdictions in which Mender operates.
- Collaborate with department leaders to support budgeting, cost management, and financial planning across the organization.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports, forecasts, and performance updates to senior leadership, highlighting key risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
- Support the company's continued growth by building scalable financial processes, strengthening internal controls, and providing financial guidance for strategic initiatives, investments, and business expansion.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex transactional accounting environments, including inventory/COGS, purchase and sales transactions, accruals, customer/vendor settlements, and reconciliation of operational systems to the general ledger.
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent).
- 5+ years of experience in financial accounting, financial control, or finance management, with experience operating in a Financial Controller or Senior Finance role.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
- Demonstrated experience preparing management accounts, statutory financial statements, and cash flow forecasts.
- Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
- Proven ability to partner with senior leaders, providing commercial financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Experience improving financial processes, implementing controls, and driving operational efficiencies within a growing business.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate recommendations to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience using modern accounting and financial systems, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working across cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience within a high-growth technology or business environment.
- Experience in IT asset disposition (ITAD), distribution, wholesale, brokerage, equipment resale, or another inventory/transaction-intensive business strongly preferred.
- Experience implementing or optimizing ERP or finance systems.
