Full Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:

· Completed an approved management or administrator training course and have at least two years of documented experience, relevant to the population of residents to be served, as a care provider, if the administrator will be providing direct care in the home; OR

· Completed a certified nurse aide training program that the Board of Nursing has approved under 12 AAC 44.830, or that is equivalent in content to the requirements of 12 AAC 44.835(c) and have at least two years of documented experience, relevant to the population of residents to be served as a care provider; OR

· Have at least five years of documented experience, relevant to the population of residents to be served, as an administrator or staff supervisor of a home serving 10 or fewer residents; OR

· Submit proof that you are a licensed or practical nurse or a registered nurse with documented experience relevant to the population of residents to be served.

· Bachelor’s degree in social services, licensed practical nurse or registered nurse, or Certified Nursing Assistant with relevant experience working with the elder preferred.

· Three years supervisory, management, and program development experience preferred.

· Must pass criminal background check as required by state regulatory agencies.

· Familiar with elder issues, crisis intervention, conflict resolution and activities.

· Excellent written and verbal communications required, including computer skills. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and be flexible in a fast paced teamwork environment with the skill to handle sensitive issues in a mature, confidential manner and with integrity and compassion.

· Current CPR certification and First Aid.

· Current TB test (within the last 60 days)

· Three character references and two employment references (from persons unrelated).

· Must be flexible and have the ability to remain calm in emergency situations.

· Maintains records of activity for each client, and monitors the records kept by the program assistants.

· Ability to obtain Assisted Living Administrators Certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide supervision, mentoring and oversight for adult day services coordinator and program.

Maintain full occupancy of assisted living units with appropriate residents.

SUPERVISORY:

· Responsible for day-to-day operation of assisted living department programs.

· Supervision of administrative assistant and ALP nurse and over sight of program staff.

· Conduct regular program staff meetings.

· Plan and coordinate staff work schedules.

· Provide conflict resolution to staff, clients/clients and their families

· Supervise and maintain records for senior companions assigned to assisted living department.

· Develop, coordinate and provide staff training as related to specific program.

· Hire, fire and evaluate staff.

· Service as chair of the admissions committee for ADS-ALP

· Develop and maintain a trusting, empowering relationship with clients/clients that supports each client/clients service plan goals.

ADMINISTRATIVE:

· Remain current on all Federal and Alaska State laws concerning elder abuse, assisted living regulations, adult day services regulations and nursing regulations, NTS regulations as they affect the delivery of services to the senior population served in assisted living and adult day services.

· Insure client confidentiality, informed consent and compliance with established policies and procedures.

· Attend interagency meetings, workshops, seminars, and other trainings related to supervision, geriatric, programs, Alzheimer’s disease as they become available.

· Establish collaborative relationships with other agencies within the community.

· Coordinate the creation and implementation of monthly activity schedules for clients / clients of ALP and ADS.

· Coordinate completion of quarterly grant reports.

· Assist finance with the development of program budgets.

PROGRAM:

· Develop staff in-service trainings.

· Coordinator and maintain compliance with Alaska State licensing and Chugiak –Eagle River Senior Center regarding ALP staff compliance with regard to TB testing, CPR, First Aid, background check required

· Provide over sight of program documentation, client records and service plans

· Supervise practicum and interns.

· Oversee compliance with medication safety and retention procedures.

· Oversee processes, which insure that resident standards of care are met.

· Provide over sight of staff performance evaluations.

· Provide over sight of individual service plans, functional and physical assessments and discharge planning.

· Coordinate medical files, medication storage, and supervision of medication by licensed LPN-RN

· Participate in care conferences with families/caregivers and care coordinators every 6 months and as needed if client has experienced a significant change.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
