POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Nursing supports the Director of Nursing in delivering high-quality, resident-centered care to Residents of The Woodlands at Furman. The ADON directly supervises the Skilled Nursing neighborhood. Ensuring consistent high quality of services, compliance with state and federal regulations and builds a culture of trust and competence and hospitality among Skilled Nursing team members. Assists with needs in Assisted Living and Memory Support as Directed by the Director of Nursing. Accepts responsibility for the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Nursing. In collaboration with the DON and Administrator, allocates department personnel and resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the values and interests of the Woodlands at Furman.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight of Skilled Nursing services.
Support the Director of Nursing in achieving clinical, regulatory, staffing, quality, and financial objectives.
Promote and model resident-centered care and hospitality standards.
Oversee assessments, care planning, clinical documentation, and interdisciplinary coordination.
Monitor falls, infections, medication errors, behavioral events, transfers, discharges, and significant changes in condition.
Participate in admission evaluations and resident placement decisions.
Partner with physicians, therapists, pharmacies, consultants, and healthcare providers.
Assist with staffing, scheduling, workforce deployment, recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and retention.
Conduct employee, resident, and family rounding activities.
Lead or support quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
Monitor quality indicators and implement corrective actions.
Support survey readiness, inspections, plans of correction, and follow-up activities.
Support investigations involving resident complaints, incidents, abuse allegations, neglect allegations, and regulatory matters.
Promote workplace safety, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and risk management.
Monitor employee injury prevention efforts and safe work practices.
Ensure nursing staff receive education, competency validation, and ongoing development.
Foster teamwork, accountability, communication, and employee engagement.
Serve as acting nursing leader in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures appropriate staffing of the neighborhood at all times by developing and disseminating a weekly and monthly staff schedule. Reviews and approve Time-off Requests and responds to call-outs and unfilled gaps in the schedule. Verifies adherence to scheduled hours and meal/break policies by reviewing and approving weekly payroll report.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a current South Carolina License as a Registered Nurse and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Two years of professional nursing experience in the long-term care setting is required, and a minimum of three years of experience in Skilled Nursing or Long Term Care nursing administration or a comparable management position. Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of initiative, leadership, personal accountability, organizational ability, and communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as dosages, fluid intake & output, accurate measurements, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
