Position Summary
802 Cabinetry is seeking an experienced Cabinet Finisher to prepare, spray, touch up, and inspect cabinet doors, frames, panels, moldings, and related components. This position is responsible for producing a smooth, consistent, professional finish that meets the company’s quality standards and customer-approved color specifications.
The ideal candidate has professional spray-finishing experience and understands surface preparation, sanding, priming, color matching, coating application, drying, touch-up work, and final quality inspection.
Key Responsibilities
- Review work orders and production travelers before starting each job.
- Verify the cabinet style, product quantities, approved color, sheen, and finishing instructions.
- Inspect unfinished products for cracks, dents, scratches, rough edges, and other defects.
- Sand, clean, fill, repair, and prepare surfaces before applying primer or paint.
- Mask and protect cabinet interiors, hardware holes, labels, and surfaces that should not be painted.
- Mix primers, paints, coatings, and other finishing materials according to approved formulas and manufacturer instructions.
- Prepare finish samples and confirm color accuracy before beginning production.
- Operate professional spray-finishing equipment inside the designated paint booth.
- Apply primer, paint, stain, clear coat, and other approved finishes evenly and consistently.
- Ensure proper coverage on doors, frames, edges, corners, moldings, panels, and visible cabinet surfaces.
- Monitor drying and curing times before moving products to the next production stage.
- Complete touch-ups and correct minor finish defects when possible.
- Inspect completed products for color consistency, sheen, coverage, texture, runs, drips, dust, scratches, cracks, and other defects.
- Maintain accurate records for color formulas, paint batches, samples, quantities, and completed work.
- Label finished components and keep all parts from each customer order together.
- Move completed products carefully to the correct drying, quality-control, assembly, or packaging area.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, hoses, paint equipment, tools, booth surfaces, and filters.
- Monitor finishing-material inventory and report low supplies.
- Minimize paint waste and use finishing materials responsibly.
- Maintain a clean and organized finishing area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and product-handling requirements.
- Perform other production and finishing duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous professional spray-finishing experience is required.
- Cabinet, furniture, millwork, automotive, or industrial finishing experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with spray guns, paint booths, sanding equipment, primers, paints, stains, and clear coatings.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, coating application, drying, curing, and touch-up procedures.
- Ability to read work orders, color formulas, labels, mixing ratios, and safety instructions.
- Ability to recognize color differences and finish defects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent quality.
- Basic math skills for measuring and mixing finishing materials.
- Ability to work independently and follow production priorities.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to communicate production problems and quality concerns promptly.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Safety Requirements
- Follow all paint-booth, ventilation, fire-safety, and chemical-handling procedures.
- Review and follow product labels and Safety Data Sheets.
- Properly use required gloves, eye protection, protective clothing, hearing protection, and respiratory protection.
- Successfully complete any required medical evaluation, respirator fit testing, equipment training, and safety training.
- Properly store, label, and dispose of finishing materials according to company procedures.
- Immediately report spills, equipment problems, unsafe conditions, or exposure concerns.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and team-lift heavier products.
- Ability to stand for most of the workday.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive sanding and spraying work.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment for assigned tasks.
- Ability to work in a production environment with dust, noise, odors, and varying temperatures while using required safety controls and protective equipment.

Schedule
- Full-time, primarily Monday through Friday.
- Starting and ending times may vary based on production needs.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
