TOWNSHIP TREASURER
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Position Summary: This is a full-time elected position for which the Township Board will appoint an individual to serve the remainder of the current unexpired term, ending with the next General Election in November 2028. To continue serving beyond the appointment, the appointed individual must seek election to the office in November 2028.
Essential Job Functions: As a voting member of the Township Board, the Treasurer participates fully in the governance of the Township by attending Township Board meetings and actively participating in deliberations and decision-making. Duties include, but are not limited to, collecting real and personal property taxes; maintaining accurate accounts of Township revenues and expenditures; issuing checks and processing financial transactions; depositing Township revenues into approved depositories; investing Township funds in accordance with applicable laws and approved investment policies; collecting delinquent personal property taxes and mobile home specific taxes; appointing and supervising a Deputy Treasurer; maintaining the required surety bond; and utilizing BS&A software to perform daily treasury functions or demonstrating the ability and willingness to learn and become proficient in the software.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be registered voters of the Charter Township of Lansing and must be bondable. Familiarity with BS&A municipal software is preferred but not required. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn and become proficient in the Township's BS&A software applications. Proficiency with standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and multi-line telephone systems, is preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is desirable, as is experience with financial bookkeeping, governmental accounting, investing, and bond financing.
Attendance at Township Board meetings and other required meetings is an essential function of this position.
Compensation: The annual salary for the current term of office is set at $66,000, plus benefits.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally, hear conversations, and review written and electronic documents. The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands and fingers to operate office equipment, types, writes, and reaches with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift or move light to moderate-weight office materials. Work is performed primarily in a professional office environment.
