Full Job Description

Job Overview
(This is primarily an in-office position, not remote.) We are seeking a passionate and skilled WordPress Developer & Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, customizing, and maintaining engaging websites using WordPress, ensuring they are visually appealing, user-friendly, and optimized for performance. Your expertise in web design and development will help us deliver seamless digital experiences that align with our brand goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the growth of our online presence.

Responsibilities

Develop and customize WordPress themes and plugins to meet project specifications, ensuring responsive and scalable web solutions.
Design visually compelling layouts using wireframing tools and implement them with HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript frameworks, and Bootstrap for a polished user interface.
Integrate third-party APIs and web services to enhance website functionality, including RESTful APIs, GraphQL, SOAP, and custom PHP scripts.
Optimize websites for SEO best practices and ensure fast load times through performance tuning and scalable architecture.
Manage version control using GitHub or SVN; implement CI/CD pipelines for efficient deployment; utilize tools like Jenkins or Git for continuous integration.
Collaborate with UX/UI designers to develop user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that improve user experience (UX).
Maintain websites on various hosting environments such as Siteground, Liquid Web, Amazon, Cloudflare and other cloud platforms while ensuring security best practices.

Qualifications

Proven experience in front-end development with proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including SCSS), JavaScript (including frameworks like Angular or React), TypeScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
Strong knowledge of WordPress development including theme customization, plugin development, and site optimization.
Familiarity with back-end technologies such as PHP, Python, Ruby on Rails, C#, Java (Spring Framework), Django or ASP.NET is a plus.
Experience working with databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server (Microsoft SQL Server), MongoDB, SQLite; knowledge of data visualization techniques is advantageous.
Understanding of system architecture principles for developing scalable web applications; experience with Docker containers and DevOps tools like Ansible or Jenkins is preferred.
Knowledge of web services (RESTful API, SOAP), JSON data formats, XML processing, GraphQL APIs, and developing responsive web design projects for various devices.
Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies using Trello or Jira; experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
Ability to develop responsive designs that enhance user experience across devices while maintaining scalability and performance standards.
Strong problem-solving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to work effectively within a team environment.
