Full Job Description

The Content Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting high-quality educational and youth development programming across required content areas. This role ensures program content is aligned with organizational goals, industry standards, and continuous quality improvement practices. The Content Specialist provides coaching, supervision, training, and professional development to program staff to ensure the delivery of engaging, developmentally appropriate, and impactful learning experiences.

Responsibilities

Program Design, Development & Content Management

· Design, develop, and implement comprehensive educational and youth development

· programs aligned with organizational goals and OST standards.

· Lead the development and ongoing enhancement of educational content to ensure

· relevance, accuracy, and alignment with industry and OST guidelines.

· Integrate innovative teaching methodologies and emerging technologies to enhance

· learning outcomes.

Training, Coaching & Staff Support

· Train staff on Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), Youth Performance Quality

· Assessment (YPQA), program management practices, and measurement of program

· impact.

· Support Activity Specialists, Group Leaders, Youth Development Professionals, and other

· team members through regular observation, coaching, supervision, and professional

· development.

· Encourage and support staff in their professional growth and alignment with BGCMQ

· philosophy, mission, and values.

Program Evaluation & Quality Assurance

· Develop and implement systems to track, measure, and evaluate program quality and

· impact.

· Conduct internal assessments, including YPQA twice per school year, and provide

· constructive feedback to program staff.

· Create meaningful surveys for stakeholders to evaluate program effectiveness and

· inform program improvement.

· Document, track, and maintain progress reports, academic records, and program data.

· Monitor attendance, ensure accurate reporting, and meet required Rate of Participation

· (ROP) and Average Daily Attendance (ADA) targets.

· Ensure PBL projects (Project-Based Learning) are submitted accurately and meet core

· programming standards.

Program Support & Operations

· Assist with recruitment, scheduling, staffing, and program design in collaboration with

· the Program Director.

· Help maintain compliance with funders and regulatory agencies (21C, LEAPS, ACS, DOE,

· DYCD, OCFS, DOH).

· Submit weekly food/snack reports, maintain accurate counts, and monitor transitions

· and activity periods.

· Support program safety procedures, including drills, crisis management, and incident

· reporting.

· Ensure all enrollment documentation is collected and submitted according to BGCMQ

· and funder requirements.

· Attend weekly meetings with the Program Director and/or supervisory staff and assist

· with daily staff check-ins.

· Assume Program Director responsibilities in their absence to ensure continuity of

· operations.

Communication & Community Engagement

· Maintain communication with parents, school personnel, and community partners

· regarding program needs, updates, and incidents.

· Represent the organization at school leadership meetings, BGCMQ events, retreats,

· community functions, and conferences.

· Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to support promotion of

· educational initiatives and engagement.

· Communicate program objectives, progress, and outcomes through reports,

· presentations, and stakeholder updates.

Other Responsibilities

· Support program delivery by facilitating activities when needed.

· Follow up on communications that miss deadlines and ensure timely completion of required tasks.

· Maintain professional appearance, positive attitude, and respectful communication at all times.

· Perform other duties as assigned to support overall program operations and organizational success.

Skill Requirement

Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Youth Development, Recreation, or a related field.

Experience:

· Minimum one year of supervisory experience.

· Two or more years of after-school or youth development experience preferred.

· Experience in curriculum development, staff training, coaching, and program management preferred.

Certification & Licenses:

· Valid driver's license preferred (if applicable)

· CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain

· Complete required annual SACC training (15–20 hours)

Other Requirements:

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Canva

· Strong organizational and time management skills

· Ability to maintain confidentiality

· Ability to work with diverse populations

· Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends

· Commitment to the organization's mission and youth development

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands of this position are consistent with a professional office environment. The employee is regularly required to sit, speak, hear, and use hands to operate office equipment. Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds may be required.
