Job Overview

Commercial Flooring Experience Required

We are seeking an experienced commercial flooring professional to join our established Southeast Michigan flooring company as a Project Manager / Estimator.

Professional commercial flooring experience is required. This is not a general construction project management position. Applicants without commercial flooring industry experience will not be considered.

We are open to candidates whose flooring background includes project management, estimating, project coordination, installation management, or commercial flooring sales.

The position involves managing commercial flooring projects from estimating and bidding through material procurement, scheduling, installation, and final completion.

Responsibilities

Estimate commercial flooring projects from plans, specifications, finish schedules, and field information
Prepare proposals, budgets, scopes of work, and change orders
Review architectural drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
Prepare and manage product submittals and project documentation
Order flooring materials and coordinate deliveries
Schedule and coordinate installation with general contractors, construction managers, customers, vendors, field supervisors, and installers
Manage projects from award through final completion
Track labor, materials, quantities, job costs, and profitability
Visit jobsites as needed to verify measurements, conditions, progress, and installation requirements
Resolve jobsite issues and keep projects moving efficiently
Manage multiple commercial flooring projects simultaneously

Required Qualifications

Commercial flooring industry experience is required
Strong working knowledge of commercial flooring products and installation methods
Experience with products such as carpet, carpet tile, LVT, sheet vinyl, VCT, rubber flooring, ceramic tile, and related materials
Ability to read architectural drawings, specifications, finish schedules, and construction documents
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working with general contractors, construction managers, facility managers, vendors, installers, and field personnel
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn estimating and project management software

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following commercial flooring roles is preferred:

Commercial flooring project management
Commercial flooring estimating
Commercial flooring project coordination
Flooring installation management
Commercial flooring sales

We are looking for an experienced flooring professional who understands the commercial flooring business and wants to join a stable company with experienced employees, long-standing customers, and a strong reputation for quality workmanship and dependable service.

Applicants whose experience is primarily in residential construction or unrelated construction trades will not be considered.
