Full Job Description

Job Title: Field Designer
Location: Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Type: 12 month Contract
Compensation: $30.00 - $31.50 per hour
Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote

Responsibilities

Design and manage electric distribution projects for new and existing customers.
Responsibilities include customer interaction, project management, field assessments, and system design using GE Smallworld (customized GIS).
Tasks include transformer sizing, underground cable routing, and pole placement.
Create, update, and revise sketches, working drawings, and contract documents using CAD or manual drafting to meet customer requirements.
Prepare documentation to support design drawings, including bills of material and schedules.
Assist engineering personnel with formal drawing transmittals and construction issues.
Read and comprehend detailed customer requirements, data sheets, and supplier specifications.
Conduct field visits and computer-based design work, with a mix of office and field activities.
Collaborate with team members in a supportive, idea-sharing environment.
Ensure safety protocols are followed during field visits to residential, commercial, and construction sites.

Requirements

Strong communication (verbal and written).
Organizational and project management skills.
Basic electrical knowledge or background.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
GIS or AutoCAD experience is a plus but not required.
People skills, desire to learn, adaptability, and independence.
No specific degree required; open to various backgrounds including construction, call center, police, etc.
Experience in electrical or utility fields is a plus.
No certifications required.
