Full Job Description

Senior Accountant

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join their growing team. Reporting directly to the Vice President, this role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and general business administration. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable handling a wide variety of accounting and operational responsibilities in a collaborative office environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, account reconciliations, and bookkeeping activities.
Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, financial reports, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Maintain fixed asset records and prepare depreciation schedules, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, and disposal of company assets.
Assist with financial statement preparation and month-end close processes.
Coordinate with external CPA firms and support annual audits and tax preparation.
Administer quarterly business taxes, payroll taxes, sales tax filings, W-2s, and 1099 reporting.
Monitor workers' compensation reporting, claims, and compliance.
Manage insurance programs including vehicles, equipment, property, and workers' compensation.
Oversee business licensing requirements and renewals across multiple states.
Ensure technical licenses and certifications remain current.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting.
Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field.
5+ years of experience performing accrual-based accounting, including month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and depreciation schedules.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Collaborative team player with a positive, professional attitude.
