Director of Nursing – RN
Serenity Springs, LLC is seeking to hire a compassionate and highly qualified Registered Nurse (RN) at our male-only alcohol and substance abuse rehabilitation facility. Our core program is derived from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous with solid clinical programming that incorporates evidence-based therapies and holistic treatment modalities.
Located on 38 acres of lakefront property in Edgewater, FL, Serenity Springs Recovery Center has been in operation since 2011. Responsibilities:
- Assumes the ultimate responsibility for 24-hours planning of nursing services.
- Leads and directs the overall daily nursing operations and provide full-time oversight and accountability.
- Provides ongoing education, mentorship, leadership, guidance, and support to nursing and ancillary staff.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care, including medication management, health assessments, and therapeutic interventions tailored to population served.
- Review, establish, and maintain patient care protocols and standards, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while following Serenity Springs policies and guidelines.
- Responsible for the ongoing assessment of each individual nurses’ learning needs. Developing, coordinating and implementing of education programs to meet staff’s needs and the needs of the facility to provide quality nursing care.
- Provides coverage, stabilization and progression of the department during times of vacancies and onboarding of newly hired staff members.
- Establish and coordinate quality improvement, safety and infection control programs.
- Manage staffing schedules, establish cost control programs, and implement new programs/ services.
- Develops and monitors operating budgets, adhering to and developing mechanism to maintain cost efficiency.
- Lead and participated in quality improvement initiatives specific to substance use disorder, monitoring outcomes and ensuring compliance with standards of care.
- Establishes quality measures and standards for continuous quality improvement.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and protocols that align with best practices and regulatory requirements within the field.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff to maintain a competent and motivated team well-versed in dual diagnoses programs.
- Work in collaboration with the medical, clinical, and administrative teams to ensure seamless delivery of care, with a focus on substance abuse and mental health.
- Assist in the development and management of the nursing department budget, while monitoring expenditures and conducting thorough cost analysis.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations along with accreditation expectations, using evidenced based practice and treatment standards related to nursing care.
- Tracks and maintains performance standards. Provides analyses and recommendations to leadership teams in regards to gaps between performance outcomes and standards.
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate and timely medical records, including nursing assessments, care plans, and progress notes.
- Stays abreast of latest trends and practices in the field of substance abuse. Creatively applies new concepts and practices to evolve and upgrade the impact of the department staff and activities over the provided services.
- Conduct biweekly meetings with nursing team and medical staff to address and review any staff suggestions, concerns, updates, policy changes, and/ or issues related to patient care.
- Assist Medical Director with overall operations of medication services and treatment programs.
- Provide and educate health promotion to patients, including weekly didactic learning activities as a group as well as one-on-one.
- Secure, maintain, and order nursing and medical supplies as necessary, tracking inventory as supplies are dispersed.
- Participate in clinical consultations and team meetings.
- Maintain and update appropriate policies and procedures related to nursing practices and provide input on clinical and medical policies and procedures as they relate to nursing.
- Operate as the organization’s Infection Control Officer, managing internal and external communications related to any ongoing and/or emerging infection control treatment.
- Evaluate the quality of care, staff’s work and the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the function or department.
- Coordinate with other agencies, community resources and outreach programs regarding specified care, treatment, prevention, rehabilitation and administrative functions.
- Complete agency courses on Ethics, HIPAA, Universal Precautions, and any other training required by DCF/JCAHO/CARF.
- Other duties as required to address operational needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- 6-10 employees
- Primary consultant for all agency nursing staff, to include psychiatric technicians and residential health technicians.
- Supervises all nursing staff, either directly or through subordinate supervisors.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency’s policies and any applicable laws.
- Interviewing and training new employees.
- Planning, assigning, and directing work.

- Rewarding and disciplining employees.
- Addressing complaints and resolving any issues regarding nursing and/or within nursing team.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing required.
- Valid, active and unencumbered RN from the State of Florida
- Three (3) years leadership/ management experience in psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance abuse nursing.
- Strong clinical assessment, organizational, and communication skills specific to the population served.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations relating to substance abuse programs and knowledge of Joint Commission, CARF and DCF Accreditation processes and requirements is strongly preferred.
- Current CPR & Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Knowledge of the recovery lifestyle and 12-step program preferred.
- Knowledge of effective client/ patient behavior management techniques (CPI).
- Valid driver’s license, with a safe driving record.
- Proven experience leading and motivating a team.
- Proficient in use of computer programs including EMR, Microsoft Office, and Google Docs.
- Must possess a sincere desire to serve the chemically dependent client.
- Must adhere to the professional ethics and guidelines of this agency.
