Full Job Description

Controller

Fractional/Part-time

Are you a strategic accounting professional who enjoys both high-level financial leadership and hands-on involvement? Our client is a locally based and growing consulting firm that provides fractional Accounting/HR support to small businesses. They are currently seeking a Fractional/Part-time Controller to join their team. This is a remote position with highly flexible hours, ideal for someone looking to work independently while making a meaningful impact in a dynamic and supportive environment.

What You'll Do

Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management.
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Monitor cash flow and oversee banking relationships.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and federal, state, and local regulations.
Coordinate annual audits and work closely with external CPA firms.
Prepare and file required tax reports, including sales tax, payroll tax, 1099s, and other regulatory filings.
Maintain strong internal controls and continuously improve accounting processes.
Partner with leadership on strategic planning, capital expenditures, and business initiatives.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA preferred but not required.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and cash flow.
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial leaders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Experience

Manufacturing, construction, engineering, distribution, or professional services experience.
Experience with ERP systems.
Process improvement and internal controls.
Audit coordination and tax compliance.
