POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
· Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
· Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN) is required (must be obtained within three (3) years of hire), MSN is preferred.
· Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in the state of Texas required.
· Minimum of 3 years clinical nursing experience required; hospital experience preferred.
· One year of formal teaching experience or nursing professional development preferred.
· Certification in nursing specialty preferred
· Current BLS
· PALS and ACLS Certification within 6 months of hire date
· Must become BLS, PALS, and ACLS Instructor within 6 months of hire date. (Sub-specialties may require additional instructor courses)
· Organizational skills are necessary
· Good written and verbal communication skills required
· Ability to read, write, and speak English
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
· Cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage professional health care education delivery across the continuum of care will be required.
· The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and in writing is required; as is the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word.
· Must be flexible with work scheduling.
· Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits.
· Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocols, procedures, and standards within area of nursing expertise.
· Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff in area of specialty.
· Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
· Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula.
· Working knowledge of the use of established clinical and preceptorship models in the development of clinical education programs.
· Technical leadership skills within area of expertise.

· Responsible for the day to day training of nurses in respective unit of responsibility
· Collaborates and assists Nursing Educators from other areas
· Educates patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.
· Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
