Senior Collections Coordinator

Position Overview

The Senior Collections Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Firm’s overall financial health. In this dynamic role, you will manage the Firm’s accounts receivable and drive progress toward financial targets through close collaboration with management, attorneys, and clients.

This position focuses on building strong relationships, coordinating effective collection strategies for complex accounts, and improving cash flow by addressing aged receivables. The ideal candidate will bring solid business experience, strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, sound decision-making, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship & Strategy Management: Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with attorneys and clients to support effective collection efforts. Develop a thorough understanding of collection practices through regular meetings with leadership, documenting strategies in the firm's collection software.
Account Resolution: Coordinate with attorneys to evaluate, determine, and execute appropriate client follow-up strategies for aged accounts receivable. Serve as the primary point of contact for complex accounts (preparing key documents, tracking deadlines, and performing back-end account maintenance).
Team Collaboration: Maintain regular communication with the Billing Manager and support team to align on best billing and collection practices.
Financial Analysis: Interpret firm reports and financial data to identify trends, recommend ways to improve cash flow, accelerate the collection cycle, and support revenue targets.
Year-End & Operational Support: Assist in year-end close activities, ensuring billing and collection deadlines are met accurately and timely. Provide support for accounting operations including Billing, Cash Receipts, Collections, and special projects as needed.
Communication & Best Practices: Respond promptly, professionally, and thoroughly to client and internal inquiries. Participate in department meetings and stay current on firm policies, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of relevant law firm Accounts Receivable (A/R), Billing, and Collections experience (Required).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Preferred).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and legal accounting systems such as Aderant or Intapp (Preferred).
Core Competencies:
Proven ability to build strong internal and external professional relationships.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and proactive follow-up habits.
Ability to work with urgency and accuracy under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
Sound judgment, discretion, and problem-solving abilities when managing complex financial matters.
Strict adherence to confidentiality regarding firm, client, and financial information.

Base annual salary depends on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, and relevant certifications.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
