Position Summary
The Family & Community Engagement Coordinator leads the family experience at Silverwood by cultivating a welcoming, organized, and connected school community. Serving as the primary point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors, this role combines exceptional customer service, thoughtful communication, and strong organizational skills to support the daily operations of the school while fostering meaningful family engagement. As an ambassador for Silverwood, the Coordinator shapes the family experience—from a prospective family's first inquiry to the celebration of graduation—ensuring every interaction reflects the school's mission, values, and commitment to belonging, partnership, and experiential learning. The Coordinator also serves as a storyteller for the community, celebrating student learning and strengthening connections through engaging communications, events, and digital content.
Key Responsibilities
Family & Community Engagement
● Serve as the primary point of contact for current and prospective families, creating a welcoming and supportive experience from first inquiry through graduation.
● Cultivate authentic relationships with students, families, staff, volunteers, and visitors that foster trust, connection, and a strong sense of belonging.
● Coordinate new family onboarding and help families navigate school procedures, resources, and community traditions.
● Recruit, coordinate, support, and recognize parent and community volunteers in support of classrooms, events, and school initiatives.
● Partner with the Head of School to strengthen family engagement, community partnerships, and enrollment retention efforts.
● Support prospective families through the inquiry, tour, and enrollment process by providing timely communication, coordinating campus visits, and helping create a welcoming first impression of Silverwood.
● Represent Silverwood's mission, values, and culture with warmth, professionalism, and enthusiasm in every interaction.
● Monitor family feedback and identify opportunities to enhance the overall family experience, helping foster strong relationships, satisfaction, and long-term engagement with the Silverwood community.
Front Office & Administrative Operations
● Maintain a welcoming, organized, and efficient front office environment by overseeing office supplies, administrative systems, and daily operational needs.
● Answer phones, respond to emails, greet visitors, and direct inquiries with professionalism, warmth, and efficiency.
● Oversee student attendance, late arrivals, early dismissals, and daily student check-in/check-out procedures.
● Maintain accurate student and family records within the school's information systems.
● Assist with scheduling, calendars, meeting logistics, and general administrative support.
Communications
● Coordinate timely and consistent communication with families through newsletters, email, calendars, and school announcements.
● Maintain and update the school website with current information, events, and program highlights.
● Manage the school's social media platforms by sharing authentic moments that strengthen community engagement and support enrollment efforts.
● Tell the story of Silverwood by creating and sharing engaging content—including photography, video, and written stories—that celebrates student learning, outdoor education, school traditions, and the everyday joy of community life.
● Collaborate with faculty and staff to gather content that highlights classroom learning, outdoor education, special events, and student accomplishments.
● Capture photos, stories, and highlights that showcase the Silverwood experience for current and prospective families.
● Assist in developing digital and print materials that promote school programs, events, and community initiatives.
● Ensure all communications, photography, digital content, and marketing materials consistently reflect Silverwood's mission, voice, visual identity, and commitment to community.
● Collaborate with the Head of School to develop communications that support admissions, enrollment, retention, and community engagement goals.
Events & School Programs
● Plan and coordinate school-wide events, family gatherings, celebrations, performances, and community traditions that strengthen school culture.
● Coordinate logistics for field trips, outdoor education experiences, and special programs.
● Collaborate with faculty, staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure successful events.
● Support admissions and community events that welcome prospective families and showcase the Silverwood experience. Professional Responsibilities

Qualifications Required
● Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
● Two or more years of experience in schools, customer service, communications, nonprofit organizations, or a related field.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
● Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and common digital communication, website, and social media platforms.
● Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
● Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check in accordance with Washington State requirements for school employees, including criminal history and reference checks.
Preferred
● Experience working in schools or nonprofit organizations.
● Experience managing websites, social media platforms, or digital communications.
● Experience with student information systems and family communication platforms.
● Familiarity with event coordination and volunteer management.
