POSITION SUMMARY: YouthCare is seeking a relationship-focused Volunteer & Community Partnerships Specialist serving as the primary connector between YouthCare and the community.
This role will conceptualize and build a Volunteer Program that drives increased engagement, with clear systems to manage donors and drive return engagement. It will lead YouthCare's volunteer program while developing strategic community partnerships that expand volunteer engagement, increase in-kind and revenue support, and deepen community investment. Working collaboratively across the organization, the Program Manager identifies program needs, designs impactful volunteer experiences, coordinates community giving initiatives, and ensures volunteers and partners feel informed, valued, and inspired by the difference they make.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Engagement

Commitment to mission, YouthCare values, and customer service orientation internally and externally.
- Lead and grow YouthCare's volunteer program, including recruitment, screening, onboarding, training, scheduling, recognition, and stewardship.

Design meaningful volunteer opportunities that align with agency priorities and program needs.

Coordinate individual and group volunteer projects, including corporate volunteer days and meal service opportunities.

Develop volunteer communications, training materials, policies, and recognition strategies.

Maintain volunteer records, background checks, and reporting within volunteer management systems in Golden and Blackbaud CRM.

Partner with staff across the organization to identify volunteer needs and ensure successful volunteer experiences.
Community Giving & Partnerships
- Act as liaison between the agency and the community.
- Build and steward relationships with corporations, schools, faith communities, civic organizations, and community groups.

Develop community giving initiatives that increase in-kind donations and volunteer engagement.

Partner with YouthCare programs and Facilities to identify priority in-kind needs and coordinate timely fulfillment.

Oversee community donation drives and maintain accurate tracking of donor engagement and in-kind contributions.

Collaborate with the Development team to promote volunteer opportunities and community impact through storytelling and communications.
Collaboration & Leadership

Foster collaborative relationships across YouthCare to strengthen volunteer engagement and community partnerships.

Continuously improve volunteer and community giving systems, processes, and communications.

Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment for volunteers, donors, youth, and staff that reflects YouthCare's values and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Participate in department planning, special projects, and other duties that support the success of the Development team.

Provide administrative, fundraising, and logistical support for major events (e.g., gala, luncheon),

Work collaboratively with Human Resources on volunteer training, staff training, volunteer policies, background checks, etc.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and psychologically safe environment for all staff, youth, donors, and stakeholders, where individuals feel respected, valued, and supported.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

2 or more years of volunteer program management, development, customer service, event planning, community relations or public relations (volunteer or work) experience.
- Strong organization, prioritization, and the ability to meet deadlines, impeccable follow-through, and multi-task management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while remaining focused on the experiences of donors and the needs of young people.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Strength in logistical planning, information management, and systems efficiency.
- Self-starter and ability to work independently as well as participating on a team as an effective team player.
- Ability to ask questions and clarify tasks and goals of projects.
- Ability to work effectively and maintain positive relationships with internal staff members and external constituents.
- Ability to effectively represent YouthCare positively in the community.
- Ability to be creative and flexible, problem solve independently, and adopt innovative approaches to problems.
- Ability to set appropriate boundaries and navigate quick and unexpected changes successfully.

High School Diploma or GED.

Experience and credentials must comply with program contractual requirements, including but not limited to the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) background clearance process and must be at least 21 years of age. DCYF Clearance must be maintained for entirety of employment when working with under-18 clients.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and two years experience managing a volunteer program organizing special events, community engagement experience and/or public relations experience. Volunteerism will count as experience in the field.
- Experience working with youth-serving or human services organizations.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must be able to provide I-9 supporting documentation for employment.

Ability to provide a negative TB Test (results must be within one-year of hire date).

DCYF Clearance must be maintained for entirety of employment when working with under-18 clients.

Employees who drive YouthCare vehicles as a requirement for their position, must be at least 21 years of old, possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License, meet minimum safe driver criteria established by the agency and our insurance company which includes completion of Defensive Driving and 15-passenger Van trainings. Drivers under the age of 25 must have been licensed for at least 3 years and those operating vehicles with a capacity of 15 or more passengers must be at least 25 years old.

Successful completion of pre-service training courses as required by contracting agencies. Training such as CPR & First Aid (Adult/Child), Bloodborne Pathogens, and Behavior Management.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; running for brief periods of time; and go up and down stairs.
