Travel RN – Operating Room - Colorado

Must have:

Minimum experience: 2-3 years of recent Operating Room experience required

License: Colorado or compact state license required

Certifications: BLS and ACLS required

Length of Assignment: 13 weeks

Start Date: 9/14/2026

Shift: Days – 36 hours per week (3x12s)

$3000 weekly

Up to $1500 for referrals

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Operating Room (OR) procedures to join our dynamic healthcare team in Colorado. This role offers the opportunity to provide expert perioperative care across diverse surgical settings, supporting patient recovery and safety in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive OR experience, critical care expertise, and proficiency with a variety of electronic health record (EHR) systems. This position is designed for travel nurses committed to delivering exceptional patient care while adapting seamlessly to different hospital environments.

Duties

Deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the operating room, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
Monitor patient vital signs, assess physiological status, and respond promptly to any changes during surgical interventions.
Assist surgeons and anesthesia teams with procedural preparations, including sterile instrument handling and suturing.
Manage preoperative assessments, patient education, and postoperative recovery processes to optimize outcomes.
Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/Epic/Cerner systems), maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Administer medications, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments when applicable, following prescribed protocols.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans for patients with complex needs such as cardiac catheterization, trauma cases, or infectious disease considerations.
Support infection control practices and maintain sterile environments throughout surgical procedures.
Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives related to surgical nursing practices.

Skills

Proven experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine environments.
Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical documentation standards.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques essential for surgical nursing.
Experience with advanced procedures including cardiac catheterization, dialysis access management, tube feeding management, and ventilator support.
Skilled in IV insertion, venipuncture, suturing techniques, and specimen collection/processing.
Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards for accurate record keeping.
Ability to adapt quickly to new hospital protocols while maintaining high-quality patient care standards.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and diverse patient populations.
Knowledge of infection control practices and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
