This is a fully remote, part-time (approximately 30 hrs/week) paralegal role for a California-based litigation firm. Ideally suited for experienced paralegals looking for a flexible schedule.

Based in San Francisco, the firm handles high-impact class actions and individual matters on behalf of workers, consumers, and others facing corporate abuse and government overreach.
Examples from the firm’s docket include taking on a ranching association for allegedly colluding to suppress the wages of migrant sheepherders, confronting privacy violations related to the undisclosed, AI-powered recording of consumer phone calls, suing California’s prison system for allegedly withholding release money from people released from custody, and suing ICE for abuse of immigrants in detention and other misconduct. The firm is also actively investigating new antitrust, civil rights, campus free speech, and consumer protection cases, as well as legal challenges to actions taken by the federal government.
The Role
We’re looking for an efficient, detail-oriented, and experienced paralegal familiar with the fast-paced needs of a litigation firm. You’ll play a central role in our litigation matters, including discovery, motion practice, and trial. You will also assist with intake interviews of potential new clients. As a member of a small but growing team, you’ll work closely with three attorneys and have a direct impact on every case. We have a team-oriented and collaborative environment with an emphasis on healthy and human interactions.
Core Responsibilities
Litigation Support & Court Filings
- Cite-check, proofread, and Bluebook motions and briefs for state and federal court, including handling document formatting and preparing tables of contents and tables of authorities.
- Handle electronic filing and service of court filings in state and federal court, including through CM/ECF, Infotrack, and File&ServeXpress.
- Assist with drafting administrative motions, declarations, stipulations, pro hac vice attorney admissions, and collecting and preparing exhibits.
- Work with attorneys to confirm compliance with local rules, standing orders, and administrative requirements for all court filings, including regarding courtesy copies.
- Prepare rule-compliant shell documents and templates for court filings and discovery requests.
Case Management
- Manage case and litigation calendars, including entering new deadlines and updating deadlines in all matters. The firm uses Clio Manage and built-in court rules for calendar management.
- Process incoming and outgoing discovery productions.
- Organize case files and file incoming documents to matters.
- Coordinate with vendors including process servers, court reporters, videographers, and printing services for hearing binders, deposition scheduling, and exhibit printing when required.
Client Communication & Intake
- Handle intake calls and initial interviews with potential new clients.
- Communicate with clients under attorney supervision, including to collect client documents and materials.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree and/or ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of experience supporting civil litigation, preferably in a plaintiffs’ firm.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience with cite-checking and proofreading briefs in an efficient and thorough manner, including proficiency with Westlaw and knowledge of Bluebook citation format.
- Working knowledge of federal and California state court rules and procedures.
- Proficiency with e-filing systems such as CM/ECF and state court portals.
- Command of Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace.
- Comfort working both independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
Preferred
- Experience with e-discovery platforms (e.g., DISCO).
- Familiarity with Mac OS.
- Interest in or commitment to social justice, civil rights, or public interest work consistent with the firm’s docket.
Work Arrangement
The firm maintains a small office in San Francisco, but this is a fully remote, part-time 30 hours/week position.
Preference for California-based employees but will consider experienced candidates in other states. Must be U.S.-based and authorized to work in the United States, able to work during normal business hours Pacific time and potentially later hours around filing deadlines.
In-person meetings and travel may be required on rare occasions.
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly rate for this position will be commensurate with experience, with a range of $36-45/hour. The position also includes a discretionary performance-based bonus.
