Job Summary:
The Director of the SouthArk Foundation provides strategic leadership for the SouthArk Foundation with a primary focus on external relations, fundraising, donor stewardship, alumni engagement, communications, and advancing the Foundation's mission through strong community partnerships. The SouthArk Foundation is run by an independent 501c3 board and the director position reports to the president of South Arkansas College.
Salary: Annual salary range of $60,000-$65,000 to commensurate with education and experience. Plus, excellent benefit package.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Board Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison to the SouthArk Foundation Board of Directors.
- Work with Board leadership to establish meeting agendas and strategic priorities.
- Support Board committees and governance activities.
- Facilitate Board engagement in fundraising and community outreach.
External Relations & Fund Development
- Develop and implement the SouthArk Foundation's annual fundraising plan to align with the college’s strategic plan.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and community donors
- Build and maintain relationships with major donors, prospective donors, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue new philanthropic and partnership opportunities
- Represent the SouthArk Foundation at college, community, and donor events.
Alumni Relations
- Develop and implement an alumni engagement strategy.
- Build meaningful relationships with alumni to encourage involvement, volunteerism, advocacy, and philanthropy.
- Oversee alumni communications and engagement initiatives.
- Support alumni events and activities in partnership with college staff.
Communications & Marketing
- Maintain a SouthArk Foundation communication plan to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications.
- Develop a social media and digital communication strategy.
- Lead copy creation.
- Oversee donor communications, impact reporting, newsletters, annual reports, campaigns, and fundraising messaging.
- Ensure consistent messaging across all Foundation communications.
Leadership & Administration
- Collaborate with college leadership to align Foundation priorities with institutional goals.
- Monitor Foundation performance and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Foundation policies, governance requirements, and applicable regulations.
Skills and Abilities:

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy or non-profit administration, higher education administration, or a related field
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three years of experience or more leading advancement in an educational setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
- Occasional travel for professional development and outreach initiatives
