Full Job Description

Busy Medical Specialty Office is seeking a Director of Finance with 3-5 years of progressive financial responsibility within a medium sized healthcare organization.

The Director of Finance is accountable for the accounting and revenue cycle operations of the company to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The Director of Finance is also responsible for complete oversight of the revenue cycle, including but not limited to direct management of the business office staff and oversight of financial performance indicators.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management:

Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
Oversee the operations of the finance/business office departments, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations and policies and procedures
Supervise the accounts receivable function
Monitor the charge review, claim edit and other work queues on a daily basis
Ensure accurate keeping of patient financial records
Helps in the process of hiring, training and coaching of the business office staff
Complete performance evaluations as required
Oversee and work with Clinical staff to ensure quality requirements are met
Monitor all payment posting to ensure that month end will be timely
Complete accounts receivable reports and analysis as necessary
Determine goals and priorities with billing team
Maintain good relationships with internal departments and insurance companies

Transactions:

Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
Ensure bank reconciliations are completed
Ensure required debt payments are made on a timely basis
Maintain the chart of accounts
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
Prepare and provide monthly accounting information to outside accountants
Reporting:
Issue timely and complete financial statements
Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of the company operations
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to administration
Provide for a system of management expense reports, provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration

CPA a plus

Experience:

3-5 years of progressive financial responsibility within a medium sized healthcare organization.
